    Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne (Cantu) Hickel in in March 2007.  Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas.  She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991.  Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.  Yvonne is the daughter of the late Charlie Sr. and Guadalupe Adams Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn Moran and Brittany Hickel.

    Resthaven Funeral Home specializes in personal and dignified funeral services, offers a large selection of monuments and accepts pre-paid funeral arrangements made at other funeral homes.  Resthaven Funeral Home’s state-of-the-art facility assures your loved one’s final memory will be personal, memorable and lasting.  Look for future Resthaven Chapels in neighboring Odem and Taft.

Gilbert Padilla Garibay, 71, passed away October 22, 2014. He was born on July 28, 1943 in Mathis, Texas to Carlos and Elisa (Padilla) Garibay. Gilbert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired as a communications specialist from the Naval Air Station Corpus Christi.

Alfredo “Fred” C. Silva, 66, passed away on October 22, 2014. Fred was born in Edroy, Texas on July 19, 1948 to Ascencion and Nicomedez (Curiel) Silva. He spent his early years in Edroy, Texas and most of his life in Sinton, Texas. Fred was a retired employee of Maverick Market.


Sifuentes, Marcos N. Jr.

Marcos N. Sifuentes, Jr., 69, passed away October 17, 2014.  He was born May 6, 1945 to Marcos and Concepcion (Nava) Sifuentes, Sr. Marcos was a lifelong resident of Taft, Texas. He served his country in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Marcos retired from Taft ISD.  

Marcos is preceded in death by his parents Marcos Sr. and Concepcion Sifuentes; brother Steve Nava; and mother-in-law Eloisa Suarez.

Garcia, Lorenza C.

Lorenza C. Garcia, 93, passed away October 15, 2014. She was born on August 10, 1921 to Pedro and Marcela (Perez) Cantu. Lorenza was a homemaker and a resident of St. Paul, Texas for 17 years and formerly of Mathis, Texas. 

Lorenza is preceded in death by her parents: Pedro and Marcela Cantu; husband: Francisco Garcia; daughters: Yolanda Morales and Gloria Garcia; granddaughter: Irma; and four brothers.

Garces, Amado
Resthaven Obituaries

Amado Garces, 65, passed away October 9, 2014 in New Braunfels, Texas. Amado was born in Sinton, Texas on December17, 1948 to Pedro and Victoria (Tagillas) Garces. He lived most of his life in Sinton, Texas and most recently in New Braunfels, Texas. Amado proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. Amado was a mechanic for fifty years and was employed with Dean Word Trucking Co. for fifteen years.
