  Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007.  Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas.  She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991.  Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.  Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.

  Resthaven Funeral Home specializes in personal and dignified funeral services, offers a large selection of monuments and accepts pre-paid funeral arrangements made at other funeral homes.  Resthaven Funeral Home’s state-of-the-art facility assures your loved one’s final memory will be personal, memorable and lasting.  Look for future Resthaven Chapels in neighboring Odem and Taft.

Survivors include his parents; two brothers: Brandon Gonzales and Logan Perez; two sisters; Ambria DeHuelbes and Anastasia Leek, all of Sinton, TX; maternal grandfather, Gabriel Gonzales of Sinton, TX; maternal grandmother, Lupita and Albert Garcia of Georgia; paternal grandmother, Lupe Gonzales of Sinton, TX; maternal great-grandmothers Blaza Gonzales and Josefa Gonzales; paternal great-grandparents; Felipe and Oralia Castillo; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding in death is his great-grandfather, George Z. Gonzales; great-aunt, Graciela Castillo; three cousins: Johnathon (JR) Rodriguez, Nathaniel Gonzales and Luke Gonzales.

Silvas, Maria T.Maria T. Silvas, a homemaker and resident of Sinton for 62 years, passed away February 18, 2010. She was 82.

Maria was born to Maximiliano and Simona Torres on June 9, 1927 in Sandoval, TX. Prior to living in Sinton, Maria was a resident of Raymondville, TX.

Survivors include a son, Raul Silvas of Sinton, TX; six daughters; Olivia Silvas of Sinton, TX, Maria Juanita DeLaFuente of Garland, TX, Erlinda Silvas of Sinton, TX, Irma Ramirez of Houston, TX, Rosalinda Perez of Victoria, TX, and Julie Perez of Houston, TX; 32 grandchildren; 105 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding in death is her husband Reynaldo Silvas, Sr., a son, Reynaldo Silvas, Jr. and a daughter, Aurelia Silvas.

Survivors include her father Jose Suarez of Taft, TX, a son: Ruben Rodriguez, Jr. of Taft, TX, a daughter: Ruby Rodriguez of Taft, TX; two brothers: Frank Suarez and Fermin Suarez, both of Taft, TX; six sisters: Mary Maldonado of Pharr, TX, Jo Ann Alvarado, Mary Ann Cruz, Lupe Sifuentes and Josie McIntyre, all of Taft, TX and Felipa Saldivar of Corpus Christi, TX; two grandchildren: Gabriel Rodriguez and Serenity Rodriguez.

Preceding in death is her mother Eloisa Suarez and brothers Joe Suarez, III and Juan Suarez.

Guillermo “Willie” Riojas, a handyman and lifelong resident of Sinton, passed away February 16, 2010. He was 82.
Survivors include his guardians, Librado Rivas, Jr. of Sinton, Texas and Adelita Rivas-Franco of San Antonio, Texas.
Visitation will begin Thursday, February 18, 2010, 4:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A rosary will follow the same evening at 7:00 PM. Burial will be private.
Services entrusted to Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton.
 
Sierra, Nicolas “Nico”
Resthaven Obituaries

Sierra, Nicolas “Nico”Nicolas “Nico” Sierra, surrounded by his children and family, left to be with his Creator on February 13, 2010.  He was 72.

Nico enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing.  He loved to dance and listen to his “musica”.  His first professional job was with a security company in Houston, Texas. Nico later completed several certifications in law enforcement and served on the Mathis, Dumas and Alice police departments.

Nico is preceded in death by his parents Eligio Sierra and Luz A. Sierra; brothers Thomas, Rudolfo, Roberto and Benito Sierra; sisters Rosalia Gonzales and Carmen S. Furlow.

Survivors include his wife Angelita G. Sierra of Baytown, Texas; two sons: Nicolas Sierra, Jr. of Beeville, Texas and Alejandro Ray Sierra of Baytown, Texas; three daughters: Rebecca Ruiz of Sinton, Texas, Liza Ann Garces of Baytown, Texas and Betty Jo Zuniga of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters: Lily Martinez and Margaret Romero of Houston, Texas; three brothers: Fernando Sierra and Armando Sierra of Houston, Texas, and Raul Sierra of Laredo, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

His companion Rosario Perales and her daughter Maria de Rosario Perales also survive him.
