  Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007.  Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas.  She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991.  Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.  Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.

Gonzales, Joe “Little Joe”Joe “Little Joe” Gonzales, a diesel mechanic for over fifty years, passed away July 15, 2010. He was 66.

Jose was born on September 8, 1943 in Sinton, Texas to Jose and Delfina Ortiz Gonzales. He was a lifelong resident of Sinton, formerly employed with H & K Construction and Tennessee Pipeline.

Survivors include his wife Josie Gonzales of Sinton, TX; his father Jose N. Gonzales of Sinton, TX; five sons: Gary Gonzales of Sinton, TX, George (Margie) Gonzales of Karnes City, TX, Jose Gonzales, Johnny Gonzales and Billy Gonzales, all of Sinton, TX; three daughters: Laura Williams of Arlington, TX, Betty Ruiz of Sinton, TX and Jennifer (Michael) Tobar of Sinton, TX; two brothers: Raymundo Gonzales of Sinton, TX and Felipe Fernandez of Dallas, TX; two sisters: Juanita Fernandez of Aransas Pass, TX and Maria G. DeLeon of Sinton, TX; eleven grandchildren: Nathan, Justin, Kimberly, Amanda, Naomi, Georgia, Hanna, Brittany, Samantha, Crestina and Mark.

Preceding in death is his mother Delfina Gonzales and a brother Raul O. Gonzales.

Hinojosa, Ramiro D. Sr.

Ramiro D. Hinojosa Sr., a power lineman for more than 20 years formerly employed with AG Hill Power an 20 years, passed away July 4, 2010. He was 47.

He was born on September 10, 1962 in Robstown, Texas to Baldemar and Maria DeLossantos Hinojosa, Sr. Ramiro was a native of St Paul, Texas but for the past three years he made Uvalde, Texas his home.

Survivors include his father Baldemar “Mike” Hinojosa, Sr. of Uvalde, TX, one son, Ramiro Hinojosa, Jr. of Corpus, Christi; four brothers: Baldemar Hinojosa of Pearsall, TX, Ruben Hinojosa of Sinton, TX, Reynaldo Hinojosa of Victoria, TX, and Amador Hinojosa of Portland, TX.

Proceeding in death is his mother Maria Hinojosa; his wife, Celina Hinojosa; a son, Hector Hinojosa; and a sister, Mary Jane Hinojosa.

Spiekerman, Alvin John

Spiekerman, Alvin JohnAlvin John Spiekerman died at age 98 on July 8, 2010. He was born in Beeville, Texas on September 14, 1911 to John Alvin and Anna Duderstadt Spiekerman. Alvin and his family moved to Odem, Texas in 1922.

Alvin farmed and ranched in San Patricio County for 73 years. He was the oldest living member of the First United Methodist Church in Odem, Texas. He was an usher in the church for 52 years. For many years Alvin served as Scout Master of Troop 35 in Odem, Texas. He was a kind-hearted, generous man that loved his family and his God.  Alvin tried to help everyone he came into contact with. He loved to dance and play dominos. Alvin lost his beloved wife Frances in 1971 to cancer.

Alvin is survived by four children who were blessed to have the best dad in the world.  Left behind to cherish his memories are sons Dr. Alvin Michael (Danette) Spiekerman of Temple, TX and Martin (Dr. Patricia, DDS) Spiekerman of Corpus Christi, TX;  daughters Frances (Dan) Baen, and Cathy Salinas both of Corpus Christi, TX. Other survivors include 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Martinez, Gonzalo “La Rock”Gonzalo “La Rock” Martinez, a self-employed truck driver for over 30 years, passed away July 4, 2010. He was 69.

He was born on May 12, 1941 in Sinton, Texas to Dionicio and Juanita Rosales Martinez. Gonzalo was a lifelong resident of Sinton, Texas.

Survivors include his mother Juanita R. Martinez of Sinton, TX; a son, Gonzalo Wilson of Houston, TX; four brothers: Nestor Martinez of Rock Island, IL, Lyonso “Lee” (Elva) Martinez of Corpus Christi, TX, Ociel R. (Eustolia) Martinez, Sr. and Eloy R. (Linda) Martinez, both of Sinton, TX; two sisters; Oralia M. (Felipe) Castillo and Esther M. Garza, both of Sinton, TX; nephew: CJ Martinez and other nieces and nephews.

Gonzalo is preceded in death by his father, Dionicio Martinez, a brother, Alonso Martinez and a niece, Gracie Castillo.

Manuel was born on June 22, 1939 in Taft, Texas to Angel and Julia Rodriguez Sanchez. He was a lifelong resident of Taft, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Garza Sanchez of Taft, TX; his mother, Julia Sanchez of Taft, TX; three sons: Alonzo Sanchez of Taft, TX, Ramiro Sanchez of Portland, TX, and Vicente Sanchez of Taft, TX; three daughters: Gracie Flores of Woodsboro, TX, Molly Saldivar and Sylvia Montez, both of Taft, TX; three brothers: Gilbert Sanchez of Taft, TX, Guadalupe Sanchez of Corpus Christi, TX, Ruben Sanchez of Taft, TX; one sister, Angelita Maldonado of Taft, TX; 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Preceding in death is his father, Angel Sanchez and a son, Manuel Sanchez, Jr.
