Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007. Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991. Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.
Resthaven Funeral Home specializes in personal and dignified funeral services, offers a large selection of monuments and accepts pre-paid funeral arrangements made at other funeral homes. Gonzalo “La Rock” Martinez, a self-employed truck driver for over 30 years, passed away July 4, 2010. He was 69.
He was born on May 12, 1941 in Sinton, Texas to Dionicio and Juanita Rosales Martinez. Gonzalo was a lifelong resident of Sinton, Texas.
Survivors include his mother Juanita R. Martinez of Sinton, TX; a son, Gonzalo Wilson of Houston, TX; four brothers: Nestor Martinez of Rock Island, IL, Lyonso “Lee” (Elva) Martinez of Corpus Christi, TX, Ociel R. (Eustolia) Martinez, Sr. and Eloy R. (Linda) Martinez, both of Sinton, TX; two sisters; Oralia M. (Felipe) Castillo and Esther M. Garza, both of Sinton, TX; nephew: CJ Martinez and other nieces and nephews.
Gonzalo is preceded in death by his father, Dionicio Martinez, a brother, Alonso Martinez and a niece, Gracie Castillo.

Manuel R. Sanchez, Sr., a welder employed with Brown & Root for more than 20 years, passed away July 3, 2010. He was 71.
Manuel was born on June 22, 1939 in Taft, Texas to Angel and Julia Rodriguez Sanchez. He was a lifelong resident of Taft, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Garza Sanchez of Taft, TX; his mother, Julia Sanchez of Taft, TX; three sons: Alonzo Sanchez of Taft, TX, Ramiro Sanchez of Portland, TX, and Vicente Sanchez of Taft, TX; three daughters: Gracie Flores of Woodsboro, TX, Molly Saldivar and Sylvia Montez, both of Taft, TX; three brothers: Gilbert Sanchez of Taft, TX, Guadalupe Sanchez of Corpus Christi, TX, Ruben Sanchez of Taft, TX; one sister, Angelita Maldonado of Taft, TX; 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Preceding in death is his father, Angel Sanchez and a son, Manuel Sanchez, Jr.

Amelia Nunez Villarreal of Papalote, Texas, passed away, July 3, 2010. She was 84.
Amelia was born on February 2, 1926 in Cotula, Texas to Ausencio and Macaria Rodriguez Nunez. She was a native of Sinton currently living in Papalote, Texas. Amelia was a retired housekeeper formerly employed with the William Burnett and Edgar Kieschnick families.
Survivors include three sons: Ausencio (Anita) Villarreal of Carrollton, TX, Oscar (Bridget) Villarreal of Round Rock, TX and Celso Villarreal of Corpus Christi, TX; one daughter: Maria Louisa (Juan) Kela of San Antonio, TX; six brothers: Carlos Nunez of San Antonio, TX, Raymond Nunez, Jose Angel Nunez, Arturo Nunez, Israel Nunez and Frank Nunez, all of Chicago, IL; one sister: Esperanza Cortez of San Antonio, TX; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding in death is her husband Celso Villarreal, Sr. and brothers Juan and Ignacio Nunez.

Petra Martinez Castro, a homemaker, passed away at home with her family by her side on June 30, 2010. She was 74.
Born on August 1, 1935 in Odem, Texas to Tobias and Anita Castaneda Martinez, Petra spent most of her life in Sinton, Texas.
Survivors include four sons: Plutarco (Norma) Castro of Kingsville, TX, Domingo Castro of Florida, Edward Castro of Corpus Christi, TX, and Ricardo (Melissa) Castro of Corpus Christi, TX; two daughters: Petra (Donald) Davies of Sinton, TX and Blanca (Tony) Rogers of Ingleside, TX; one brother, Emilio Martinez of Brownfield, TX; two sisters: Nikki Cruz of Brownfield, TX and Maria Ramirez of Altus, OK; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Petra is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Roy Castro.

Cruz of Houston, TX, Jose Cruz DeLaRosa of Webster, FL, and Alberto Cruz DeLaRosa of Houston, TX; two sisters: Aquilina Cruz DeLaRosa of Monterrey, Mexico and Rosalinda Cruz of Matamorros, Mexico; and two grandchildren.
Preceding in death is a son, Antonio Cruz DeLaRosa.
