  Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007.  Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas.  She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991.  Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.  Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.

Hilario “Larry” Gutierrez, of Taft, Texas passed away in Arizona on May 18, 2010. He was 51.

Larry was born on October 10, 1958 in Sinton, TX to Adolfo and Ramona Hinojosa Gutierrez. Larry served his country in the United States Army. He spent most of his life in Taft, TX and resided in Arizona for fourteen years.

Survivors include his mother Ramona Gutierrez of Corpus Christi, TX; two sons: Hilario Gutierrez, Jr. and Eugene Gutierrez, both of Arizona; five brothers: Adolfo (Carol) Gutierrez of Abilene, TX, Roy (Olivia) Gutierrez and Joe (Diana) Gutierrez, both of Houston, TX, Billy (Josie) Gutierrez and Albert Gutierrez, both of Corpus Christi, TX; six sisters; Rosa Gutierrez (Ramon) of Abilene, TX, Lupe Gutierrez of Sinton, TX, Marta (Joe) Cruz of Taft, TX, Gloria (Joe) Muniz of New York, Irma Gutierrez and Debra Gutierrez, both of Corpus Christi, TX; three grandchildren: Anthony Gutierrez, Naomi Gutierrez and Hilario Gutierrez, all of Arizona.

Preceding in death is his father, Adolfo Gutierrez.

Gomez, Servando  A.Servando  A. Gomez of Odem, Texas passed away peacefully in the loving presence of his wife and all his children on May 7, 2010.   Servando was born  December 16, 1926 in La Vernia, Texas to Jesus and Aurelia Gomez. Servando was a very interesting man who showed interest in everything and everyone surrounding him. He was a very gracious, gentle and loving man.  Servando enjoyed the sport of boxing and sitting outside listening to music.  But most of all, he enjoyed spending much of his time with his beloved children.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Minerva Gomez, and together had three children, Servando A.  Gomez of Odem, Texas, Matthew Gomez of San Antonio, Texas and Michael Gomez of Houston, Texas.   He is also survived by his children Servando Gomez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Graciela Rodriguez of Taft, Texas, Criselda Figueroa of Corpus Christi, Texas, Israel Gomez of Odem, Texas, Aurelia Moya of St. Paul, Minnesota, Ramon Pruneda of Odem, Texas, Joe Pruneda of Corpus Christi, Texas, Diana Lopez of Corpus Christi, Texas and Eddie Pruneda of Cedar Park, Texas; one brother, Jesus Gomez of Weslaco, Texas; 32 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lopez, Senora Maria Trinidad MartinezSenora Maria Trinidad Martinez Lopez, 89, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 02, 2010.

Born August 22, 1920 to Juan E. and Olivia Ramirez Martinez in Skidmore, Texas, she was a lifelong resident of Sinton, Texas.  Trinidad was a devout Roman Catholic, a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Church in Sinton, Texas, a Guadalupana and Cursillista.  She dedicated her life to serving God. As a loving Mother, Trinidad proudly raised her son to stay true to his heritage and dedicate his life to serving God. Trinidad had a faith that sustained her; and her prayers and kind heart sustained everyone who knew her.

Left behind to cherish her memories are a son, Father Jesus Francisco Lopez of Taft, Texas; nieces Magdalena Elizondo of Portland, Texas and Maria Estella Flores of Sinton, Texas; nephews Juan M. Torres of Sinton, Texas and Isaac M. Torres of Corpus Christi, Texas; and many, many friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Francisco L. Lopez; her parents; sisters Maria Torres and Petra R. Martinez; and a brother Isaac R. Martinez.

Justa H. Medina, a homemaker and lifelong resident of Sinton, passed away April 26, 2010. She was 78.

Justa was born in Falls City, TX on August 6, 1931 to Jose and Maria Gamez Hernandez.

Survivors include two sons: David (Delia) Medina of Bryan, TX and Eliseo (Dell) Medina of Robstown, TX; four daughters: Guadalupe Guerra of Dallas, TX, Josephine Medina of Haines City, FL, San Juana (Abel) Elisarrarz of Madera, CA and Mary Medina of Weslaco, TX; 33 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death are her parents: Jose and Maria Gamez Hernandez; a daughter, Margarita Medina; a son, Hipolito Medina, Jr.; two brothers: Guadalupe Hernandez and Daniel Hernandez; three sisters: Simona Loredo, Jesusa Escobar and Felipa Esparza; two great-grandchildren: Juanita Garza Cavazos and Antonio Bustos; a great-great-grandchild, Zoey Marter.

Rosalinda was born on April 16, 1954 in Taft, TX to Reynaldo and Petra Castillo Elizondo. Sinton was her home for the last thirteen years.

Survivors include her father Jose R. Tijerina of Taft, TX; four sons: Albert (Kayla) Casanova of Pawhuska, OK, Guadalupe (Marisa) Valdez of Taft, TX, Benny (Julie) Valdez of Aransas Pass, TX and Joe Manuel Castillo of Sinton, TX; three daughters: Diana Casanova, Patricia (Miguel) Manzano and Cindy (Francisco) Valdez, all of Sinton, TX; three brothers: Joaquin (Mary Esther) Carrera of Spring, TX, Agapito (Lucia) Carrera and Alfredo (Rachel) Balderas both of Taft, TX; three sisters: San Juana (Fernando) Soto of Pearland, TX, Rosario Sanchez of Ingleside, TX and Angelita Tijerina of Taft, TX; seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding in death is her mother Petra Tijerina.

Pallbearers are Miguel Manzano, Steve Carrera, Juan Castillo, Erica Gonzalez, Janie Garcia, Fernando Soto, Freddie Martinez and Alfredo Balderra.
