  Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007.  Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas.  She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991.  Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.  Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.

Ortiz, John MichaelJohn Michael Ortiz, a student at Welder Elementary School in Sinton, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008. He was 6 years old.

He is survived by his mother Dolores Ortiz of Sinton; his biological mother, Rebecca (Jerry Muniz) Castaneda of Corpus Christi; his biological father, David Castaneda, Sr.; three brothers David Lucas Ortiz, Daniel Lucas Ortiz and Joseph Matthew Ortiz, all of Sinton; two sisters, Jasper Renee Kujan of Killeen, Michelle Elizabeth Ortiz of Sinton; grandmother Olivia Silvas; great-grandmother, Maria Silvas, both of Sinton; two aunts, Susie (Johnny Gomez) Ortiz of Pleasonton and Rachel (Joel Ferrer) of Sinton; five uncles, Teodoro (Avelisia) Ortiz, Jr. of Beeville, Pablo (Carmel) Ortiz of Sinton, Daniel Ortiz of Rosharon, Sammy (Anna) Ortiz of Sinton, Peter (Maria Barrios) of  Sinton; numerous cousins.  

John is preceded in death by his grandfather, Teodoro Ortiz, his maternal great-grandparents, Dionicio Ortiz, Sr., Julia Ortiz, and Reynaldo Silvas.

Reyna, Norma Q.Norma Q. Reyna, an employee of the Aransas Pass Housing Authority for 25 years, currently as Executive Director, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008. She was 50.

Norma was born to Lorenzo and Cruz Quintanilla on April 8, 1957, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a native of Robstown and resided in Sinton since 1992.

Survivors include her husband Rodolfo Reyna; two sons, Rodolfo Reyna, II and Ryan Rene Reyna, all of Sinton; three daughters, Nikki Reyna of Austin, Rubi Rae Reyna and Rheba Renay Reyna, both of Sinton; her mother, Cruz Quintanilla of Robstown; two brothers, Joe (Norma) Quintanilla of Corpus Christi and Ramiro Quintanilla of San Antonio; two sisters, Mary (Roland) Story of Corpus Christi and Patsy (Jessie) Baltierra of Robstown; three grandchildren, Joe Avery Ruiz, Raquel Lauren Ruiz and Christian Jacob Garza, all of Austin; two brothers-in-law, Alvino (Diana) Reyna, III of Corpus Christi, and Mario (Joyce) Reyna, of Houston; six sisters-in-law, Virginia (Bill) Kean of Florida, Sylvia (Jose) Del Rio, Maxie (Nieves) Moreno, Genie (Jose) Elizarde, Barbara (Alonzo) Gonzalez, and Yvette Hubbard, all of Corpus Christi; She will be dearly missed by special nieces, nephews and friends.

Norma is preceded in death by her father, Lorenzo Quintanilla and two brothers, Michael Quintanilla and Edward Quintanilla.

Elliott, EdwinEdwin Elliott, 70, passed away on Sunday March 30, 2008, surrounded by his family.

Elliott was born in Houston and raised with his sister Karen in Odem, Texas, by their loving parents Clarence Edwin and Emma Frances White. After graduating as a petroleum engineer from Texas A & I University, Elliott enjoyed forty-seven years of marriage with Madeleine Karen Eads, a childhood friend and playmate. He began his career at Florida Gas Company in Hialeah, Florida, where his two children Ganon Bradley and Whitney Lea were born. Ganon and his wife Lynda Blake blessed PaPa and Emme with three beautiful grandchildren, Blake Whitney, Ganon Pierce and Grant Burritt.

He leaves behind his loving sister, Karen, her children, Jana and Todd, his sister-in-law, Suzy, and his nieces and nephews, Ronda, Robin and Mike, and C.D., Barry and Elizabeth.

Always Texans at heart, Elliott and Madeleine spent their lives together in Orlando, Daytona Beach, and finally Tampa, Florida, where he became Vice President-Development, Lykes Energy and Executive Vice President of Lykes-Duke/Louis Dreyfus, LLC.  Elliott was a member of the Winter Park Jaycees, the Tampa Downtown Kiwanis Club, Leadership Florida, the National Propane Gas Association and volunteered with the American Cancer Society. Elliott also served as President of Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing with his family and many friends.

Salone, John EdwardMr. John Edward Salone, 75, a lifelong resident of Sinton, Texas, passed from this life on Good Friday, March 21, 2008.

John was a simple man, but he knew Jesus.  He is now made to walk anew on the golden streets of Glory with his beloved wife, Mary Lee, by his side.

John E. Salone was born September 18, 1932 in Georgetown, Texas to Lee Edward and Ivory Mae Salone.  He was employed as a Custodian for Ewing Hospital in Sinton, Texas more than 25 years, and by Sinton ISD more than 25 years.  He was a member of Zion Fair Baptist Church.  John dedicated his life to those he loved, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include four sons: William Darnell Salone of Houston, Texas, Charles (Brenda) Salone and Anthony (Sandra) Stewart of Sinton, Texas, Michael (Nicole) Stewart of New Jersey; 3 daughters: Barbara Jones and Elvina (Euclid) Brown of Sinton, Texas, Yvonne (Tommy) Quinters of Houston, Texas; 2 brothers: E.R. “Ray” (Jennie) Salone of Sinton , Texas, Roy Lee (Cheryl) Salone of San Antonio, Texas;  1 sister: Joyce Salone of Sinton, Texas; 11 Grandchildren; 18 Great-grandchildren; 2 Great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  He is preceeded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Salone, a son, Milton Lee Stewart III, a daughter, Joyce Marie Stewart, and son-in-law, Willie Jones.

PerezJesusita Garcia Perez, a former employee of the San Patricio County Early Childhood Development Center in Sinton for more than twenty years, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008. She was 56.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Perez, Sr.; two sons, Mark Garcia and Ray Perez, Jr.; a daughter, Marie (Chris) Luis; her mother, Micaela Garcia; three brothers, Milton (Nora) Garcia, Joe (Gloria) Garcia, and Steven Garcia; one sister Elda Garcia; and six grandchildren, Ethan, Ray, Cody, Mario, Alyssa and Addison, all of Odem, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her father, Manuel Garcia, Jr. and a sister, Estella Garcia.
