Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007. Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991. Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.
Resthaven Funeral Home specializes in personal and dignified funeral services, offers a large selection of monuments and accepts pre-paid funeral arrangements made at other funeral homes. Mildred Howard Gingrich, a long time Sinton resident, passed away, Monday, January 14, 2008, in Phoenix, Arizona, following a long bout with Alzheimer’s. Mrs. Gingrich was born September 2, 1922, Sabinal, Texas. She was 85.
Mildred leaves two sons and their families behind, Richard “Dickie” (Charlotte) Gingrich of Sinton, and Larry (Carole) Gingrich of Scottsdale, Arizona; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by her former husband, O.A. (Sonny) Gingrich; her parents, Virgie and Everet Howard; siblings, Nelly Bertling, Elsie Taylor, and James Howard, all of Corpus Christi, and Katherine Johnson, of Houston.
For over 25 years, Mildred was chairperson of the San Patricio County American Cancer Society and a long time member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Sinton. She was very active and enjoyed very much social and philanthropic activities of the Sinton Chapter of the ESA Sorority-her “sisters” as she referred to them. To many, she will be best remembered as an avid deer hunter and a baker of exceptional apple pies. Her family and friends miss her immensely and she will be remembered forever.

Jo-Anna P. Suarez, a cosmetologist of 18 years and owner of Jo-Anna’s Full Service Hair Salon, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008. She was 37.
Jo-Anna was born to Francisco and Margarita Perez, Sr. on April 16, 1970 in Sinton, Texas. A lifelong resident of Odem, Jo-Anna was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Odem, The American Cancer Society, the Odem Athletic Booster Club, and the Odem-Edroy ISD Site Base Committee.
Survivors include her spouse, J.J. Suarez, Jr.; a son, J.J. Suarez, III; her parents Francisco and Margarita Perez; one brother, Francisco W. Perez, Jr.; two sisters, Mauny (Oscar Sanchez) Perez and Doris (Roland) Rodriguez, all of Odem, Texas; a mother-in-law, Yolanda Suarez, of Austin; two sisters-in-law, Jennifer (Andres) Moreno, of Sinton, and Jacqueline Suarez, of Dallas, Texas; nieces and nephews: Frankie, Hunter, Jaime, Joshua, Sean, Katherine, Andi, Randi, Izaiah, and Jioni; and best friend Jessica Rodriguez of Odem, Texas.
A brother, Jaime Javier Perez, maternal grandparents, Felix and Eugenia Garcia, paternal grandparents, Moises and Doris Perez, and father-in-law, Johnny Joe Suarez, Sr., precede her in death.

Enrique “Henry” Garza, Sr., passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007. He was 70.
A former resident of Corpus Christi, Mr. Garza was a self-employed carpenter for most of his life. He was a foreman and scaffold builder for local refineries for 20 years. He also served in the United States Army.
He was born to Ernesto and Ernestina Garza in Rio Grande City, Texas on November 20, 1937. He had been a resident of Odem since 1973.
Survivors include his wife Julia D. Garza of Odem; four sons, Enrique Garza, Jr. and Reynaldo (Rosemary) Garza, both of Odem, Enrique Ernesto Garza of South Carolina, and Roberto Garza of Dallas; ten daughters, Leticia (Adam) Villanueva, Ruby Santellana, Lamar (Elias) Rodriguez, Anita Franco, all of Sinton, Nora (Milton) Garcia, of Odem, and Ermelinda, Melinda, Celinda, Dalinda, and Ernestina; two brothers, David Garza, and Javier Garza of San Antonio; one sister, Diamantina Rodriguez of Edinburg; one brother-in-law, Filemon Garza of Rio Grande City, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A son, Edward Garza and a sister, Enedina Garza precede him in death.

Erlinda C. Garcia, a homemaker and lifelong resident of Sinton, passed away December 20, 2007. She was 65.
Survivors include five sons; Mike (Belinda) Garcia, of Kingsville, Texas, Thomas (Gloria) Garcia, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Jessie Garcia, of Sinton, Texas, Richard (Maria) Garcia, of Rockport, Texas, and Joe (Ida) Garcia, of Sinton, Texas; four daughters, Rosalinda (Victor) Madero, of Sinton, Texas, Mary Helen (Jesus) Garza, of Houston, Texas, Teresa Ann (Frank) Molina, of Kingsville, Texas, and Lupe Constante, of Sinton, Texas; four brothers, Eladio Constante, of Odem, Texas, Locadio Constante, of Corpus Christ, Texas, Fidel Constante, of Odem, Texas, and Ramon Constante, of Dallas, Texas; five sisters, Maria Cruz, of Sinton, Texas, Janie Lopez, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Delia Sandoval, of Sinton, Texas, Dominga Madero, of Odem, Texas, and Modesta Medina, of Victoria, Texas; 42 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Her parents, Martin and Julia Constante, and a brother, Martin Constante, Jr., precede her in death.

Adelaide Scull Eads, a lifelong resident of Odem and Sinton, Texas passed away peacefully December 13, 2007 in Boerne, Texas.
She was born August 12, 1920 to William F. and Blanche Routt Scull in Odem, Texas. Mrs. Eads was a homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church in Odem, Texas. Adelaide was a beautiful person who loved life, and was loved in return.
Survivors include two daughters: Suzanne Romike of Boerne, Texas and Madeleine (Elliott) White of Tampa, Florida; a sister: Mary Louise Morton of Lufkin, Texas; a brother: William R. Scull of Odem, Texas; a sister-in-law: Patsy Scull of Odem, Texas; 8 Grandchildren: Ganon (Lynda) White of Tampa, Florida, C.D. Eads, Robin (Kerry) Besnia, Elizabeth (Kent) Montgomery, all of Dallas, Texas, Barry (Amy) Eads of The Woodlands, Texas, Mike (Allison) Romike and Ronda Romike, of Boerne, Texas, Whitney White of Chicago, Illinois; 14 Great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A son, Carey DeAuchey Eads, III, precedes his mother in death.
