Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007. Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991. Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.
Resthaven Funeral Home specializes in personal and dignified funeral services, offers a large selection of monuments and accepts pre-paid funeral arrangements made at other funeral homes. Trina Cantu Padilla, a homemaker, passed away on January 4, 2010. She was 86.
Trina was born May 27, 1923 to Antonio and Ignacia Cantu in Lyford, Texas. She lived in Raymondville, Texas before residing in Corpus Christi, Texas since 1952.
Survivors include a son: Frank C. Padilla of Grand Prairie, Texas; 1 daughter: Nellie (Dario) Encinia of Sinton, Texas; 2 brothers; Fabio (Toni) Cantu of San Antonio and Ralph (Valerie) Garcia of Joshua, Texas; one sister: Hilda (Rudy) Vera of Edinburg, Texas; ten grandchildren: Gloria, Maria Trinidad, Dario (Jessica), Celestina, Monica, Christina, David and Daniel Encinia, Rene (Monica) and David Valls; thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death are her husband Francisco “Pancho” Padilla; her parents; a son Gilbert Padilla; a stepdaughter Rachel Valls; a brother Abel Cantu; and sisters Eloisa Bernal and Esmeralda Rosales.

Felipa G. Garcia, a homemaker, passed away January 4, 2010. She was 77.
Born to Jose and Manuela Garza on May 1, 1932 in Woodsboro, TX, Felipa was a lifelong resident of Sinton, TX.
Survivors include seven sons: Luis Ramirez of Corpus Christi, TX, Lolo (Gene) Hernandez and Epifanio (Yvonne) Garcia Jr. both of Taft, TX, Arturo (Lisa) Garcia of Dallas, TX, Adan (Melissa) Garcia of Corpus Christi, TX, Blas (Norma) Garcia and Rey (Diana) Garcia, both of Sinton, TX; four daughters: Martina (Juan) Mendoza, Eva (Rey) Rodriguez, Gloria (Roger) Hernandez and Janie Garcia, all of Sinton, Tx.; one sister: Celia Hernandez of Taft, TX. Preceding in death is her husband Epifanio Garcia, Sr.; two brothers: Jose Garcia and Julian Rodriguez; and a sister, Marta Rodriguez; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Juanita P. Garcia, a homemaker, passed away January 2, 2010. She was 86.
Born on August 27, 1923 in Runge, Texas to Juan and Emilia Perez, Juanita spent most of her life in Sinton, Texas.
Survivors include three daughters: Olga (Adam) Sanchez of Garland, TX, Olivia DeLeon of Sinton, TX, and Margaret Morfin of San Jose, CA; two sisters: Lilia Perez and Alicia Bustillo, both of Sinton, TX; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Preceding in death are her parents; a sister: Luisa Gonzales; four sons: Joe, Baltimore, Salvador and Gilbert Garcia.

Alice Jo Chapman, 69, of Odem, Texas was called home to meet her Lord and Savior on January 1, 2010.
Alice was born April 8, 1940, in Cooper, Kentucky to John and Dorothy Jones. She was a resident of Odem, Texas and former resident of Portland, Texas. She was previously employed by K-Mart as a retail manager.
She married Robert Chapman, the man she dearly loved. Together they had four sons; Gary Chapman (deceased); Robert (Melinda) Chapman, of Marion, IN, Dan (Elena) Chapman of Odem, Texas and Greg Chapman of Corpus Christi,Texas. Other survivors include great-grandchildren and the twelve grandchildren she dearly loved and adored: Daniel, Melissa, Julie, Lamar, Derek, Vickie, Greg Jr., Bobby Jack, Gary Jr., Aaron, Arik and Trish. Preceding in death is her husband Robert Chapman; her parents; a son Gary Chapman; three brothers and one sister.
Alice was a good and faithful servant. She loved the Lord with all her heart, mind and soul. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Terrell Blanton Cobb, of Portland, Texas, passed away December 30, 2009 at the age of 87.
He was born December 23, 1922 in Gonzales, Texas to Aquilla and Sara Cobb, and was raised in the Gonzales area.
After serving his country in the United States Army, Terrell began farming in the Sinton area. He attended night school to learn about fertilizers, herbicides and irrigation. He was a devoted and conscientious farmer for nearly 40 years.
Terrell was a giving person who was best known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister. Terrell is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Mildred, of Portland, Texas.
Terrell had a favorite poem that he learned in grade school and that he could still recite in his later years: "And if I should live to be the last leaf upon the tree; In the spring, let them smile, as I do now, at the old forsaken bough where I cling." (by Oliver Wendell Holmes).
