Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007. Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991. Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.

Thomas Earl “Tommy” Liles of Corpus Christi, Texas was born April 9, 1924 in Wiggins, Mississippi and passed away on November 4, 2009. He was 85.
Tommy was a member of First United Methodist Church, and was a US Army Air Corp WWII Veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Hobson Liles and Myrtle Louise Liles; brothers Donald Ray Liles, Lanny Ward Liles and Russell “Rut” Liles. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria Juanita Liles; a daughter, Andrea Liles Reynolds; siblings and their spouses, Charles E. Liles, Mary Louise and Joe Dan Franklin, Joe and Janice Liles, Sylvia and Sam Barnett, Charlotte and Johnnie Esterak; grandchildren, Scott and Lindsay Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews who were all dear to him.
Tommy was always very adventurous and graduated from Mexico City College, which today is the Universidad de Las Americas in Puebla. After graduation he attended the Inter-American Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Turrialba, Costa Rica where he had received a one-year fellowship doing research with abaca, a substitute for hemp, which had a dangerous supply line. Tommy was stationed in Brazil for three years as a member of the Foreign Missions Squadron under the direction of the Secretary of the Joint Brazil-United States Military Commission. Brazil was the second foreign assignment he had during the last war. He had been stationed in New Guinea, the Philippines, the East Indies and finally at the Tayuka Cadet Training Base which was the Randolph Field of Japan. He read, wrote and spoke Portuguese and Spanish fluently. Tom later studied contemporary Corrections and Behavioral Sciences at Sam Houston State University and was a Harris County Juvenile Probation Officer from 1955 to 1969. During this time he served frequently as Court Interpreter in the Domestic Relations Court of the Honorable Judge J.W. Mills. His family moved to Corpus Christi in 1969 where Tom was a Juvenile Parole Officer with the Texas Youth Council from 1969 to 1978.
Tom and Juanita then started a Mom & Pop pest control business in Corpus Christi (still serving people) where they met so many wonderful friends all around South Texas as Tom was always a people person.

August James Gabriele, a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, New York and most recently of Ingleside, Texas, passed away October 26, 2009. He was 99.
Mr. Gabriele was born January 10, 1910 in Brooklyn, New York to Rocco and Rosina Gabriele and was a retired New York City Fireman. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II.
Survivors include one son: Paul Gabriel of Ingleside, Texas; two daughters: Roselie Gabriel Hunter of Potsdam, New York and Diana Gabriel Meyer; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graciela Reyna Ymbert

Graciela “Grace” Ymbert, 46, went to be with her Creator on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Grace was born December 10, 1962 to Nicolas and Carmen Reyna. She married Carlos Ymbert, Jr. in 1986 and was co-pastor alongside her husband at Templo Bethel in Sinton, Texas. Grace helped many people throughout her lifetime by placing others first and providing for their needs. She always brought comfort, prayer and love to all. Grace was a true woman of Faith who, through her actions, ministered the Word of God.
Grace awaits her husband and four children at the gates of Heaven:
Ashley, Samantha, Daniel and Victoria. Survivors also include her brothers and sisters: Rosendo (Yolanda) Reyna of San Antonio, Texas; Anita (Joe) Martinez of Corpus Christi, Texas; Roberto, Rodolfo and Ramiro Reyna, Josefina Carranza, Erlinda (Ismael) Ramirez, Nicolas (Rose) Reyna, Jr., Eloy (Roxana) Reyna, Helen (Jimmy) Soliz, Beatrice (Edward) Garcia, all of Sinton, Texas; in-laws: Ruth Ymbert, Norma (Andy) Perez, Israel (Joann) Ymbert, Ismael (Sally) Ymbert; and many nieces and nephews who all saw her as a second mother. Grace is preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Rev. Carlos Ymbert, Sr.

Elva Lerma Gonzalez, 76, of Sinton died October 12, 2009.
She was born January 30, 1933 in Taft, Texas to Rosendo and Eudelia Morin Lerma. She was an Educator having taught almost 40 years in Taft, Copperas Cove, McAllen and Sinton ISD’s.
Preceding her in death are her parents; a daughter, Denise Gonzalez; and brother, Rosendo Lerma, Jr.
Survivors include three daughters: Judy Garza (Arturo) of Kenedy, Texas, Patricia Barr (Bill) of Portland, Texas and Cynthia Martinez (Joe) of North Haven, Connecticut; their father: Leobardo Gonzalez of McAllen, Texas; three brothers: Reynaldo Lerma of Margate, Florida, Rolando Lerma of Alice, Texas and Ruben Lerma of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters: Esther Trevino of Houston, Texas and Tommie Gonzales of San Antonio, Texas; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
