Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007. Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991. Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.
Resthaven Funeral Home specializes in personal and dignified funeral services, offers a large selection of monuments and accepts pre-paid funeral arrangements made at other funeral homes. James Lee Ralph “Cut” Salone,
Sr., 73 of Sinton, Texas died May 30, 2007 in a local hospital. He was
born in 1934 to the union of Lee Edwards Salone and Ivy Mae Mack in Georgetown, Texas, Mr. Salone
worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for Sinton Independent School District
for over 30 years. He was a Baptist.

Alvin Ernest “Buddy” Odom,
Jr., 63, of Sinton, Texas died May 29, 2007 in a local hospital.
Mr. Odom was a self-employed butcher, owned a BBQ restaurant, a lease
service, a daycare and most recently, Odom’s Gift Shop.

Epifanio “Eppie” Paz, 85,
a resident of Sinton, Texas died May 28, 2007. He was born October 18,
1921 to Juan Paz and Francisca Mejia in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Paz
served in the US Army and was a veteran of WWII. He was a Scoutmaster
for boy scout troop 283 from April 1957-April 1967. He served on Sinton
ISD school board April 1964 to July 1981. He served in the capacity
of Board Secretary six years, Board Vice President two years and Board
President seven years. Mr. Paz was employed by San Patricio County News
as a Commercial Printing Manager 47 years. He was a Catholic.

Sgt. Anselmo "BJ" Martinez, III, 26, of Fort Hood, Texas and formerly of Robstown, Texas, died May 18, 2007 in Tahrir, Iraq from wounds suffered when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using an improvised explosive device. Sgt. Martinez was a Gunner in the United States Army. Martinez joined the military in November 2001, after 9/11, as an infantryman . He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA from November 2001-April 2002. His first duty station was Fort Benning, GA. where he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry. While assigned to 1/29 Martinez attended Airborne School in September 2002. He re-enlisted in November 2004 and PCSed to Fort Hood, Texas where he was assigned 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since October 2005. Martinez attended PLDC from March-April 2006. He also deployed to JRTC in Ft. Polk, LA in May 2006. Sgt. Martinez was deployed with 1/12 Cav, 3 HBCT in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom IV. Martinez’s military awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Posthumous awards include Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

Raymond Uvaldo Cantu, Jr, 61, a lifelong resident of Sinton, Texas died May 16, 2007. He was born February 10, 1946 to Raymond and Genevieve Delgado Cantu in Sinton, Texas. Mr. Cantu served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver currently employed by Ram Carriers. He was a Catholic. |
