  Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007.  Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas.  She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991.  Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.  Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.

  Resthaven Funeral Home specializes in personal and dignified funeral services, offers a large selection of monuments and accepts pre-paid funeral arrangements made at other funeral homes.  Resthaven Funeral Home’s state-of-the-art facility assures your loved one’s final memory will be personal, memorable and lasting.  Look for future Resthaven Chapels in neighboring Odem and Taft.

Cordova, Maria R.Maria R. Cordova, a lifelong resident of Odem, Texas, passed away August 23, 2009. She was 66.

Maria was born on July 23, 1943 in Sinton, Texas to Dario and Maria Rodriguez.

Survivors include three daughters: Jennifer (Chris) Gomez of England, Sonia (Freddy) Gomez and Marivel (John) Espinoza, both of Odem, Texas; three brothers: Sabino (Catalina) Rodriguez of San Antonio, Texas, Inez (Martha) Rodriguez of Sinton, Texas and Ramiro Rodriguez of Odem, Texas; one daughter-in-law: Irene Morin of Odem, Texas; 12 grandchildren.

Preceding in death is her husband: Epimenio Cordova; her parents; one son: Dario Antonio Cordova; a granddaughter: Danielle Allyse Cordova; brother; Jesus Rodriguez; and sister-in-law: Elena “Judy” Rodriguez.

Ybarra, Magdaleno Magdaleno “Mac” Ybarra, a retired truck driver for H & K Construction, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2009, with his family at his side. He was 78.

Survivors include his wife Enocencia Ybarra of Sinton; sons Magdaleno Jr and Greg Ybarra of Sinton, and Fidencio Naranjo; daughters Patsy Benchoff and Janie McCreless of Corpus Christi; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Horn, Margaret B.Margaret B. Horn, 89, of Odem, passed away August 4, 2009. She was born October 21, 1919 in Sinton, Texas to Albert and Erie Mae Mitchell.

Survivors include a son, Charles L. (Eyvonne) Horn, Jr. of Portland, Texas; two daughters, Tamara (Glenn) Farris of Odem, Texas and Julie (Robert) Stalcup of Edroy, Texas; a brother, William (Faye) Mitchell of Chico, California; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Bradshaw, Lydia RuizLydia Ruiz Bradshaw, 74, of Kingsville, Texas passed away Saturday, August 01, 2009 in a Corpus Christi hospital with her family at her side.
She was born May 1, 1935 to Julian V. and Emma Sandoval Ruiz in Sinton, Texas.
Lydia, and her husband Don, moved to Kingsville in 1970.  She was employed by JC Penney for 25 years.  Lydia was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Kingsville where she was active in the Altar Society.  She was a member of the Incarnate Word Caritas Group, Kingsville Women’s Club Awareness Department, was a volunteer at Spohn Kleberg Hospital, a member of the Purple Ladies Association and faithful Bunco player of 30 years.
Lydia had a warm smile, a witty sense of humor and sweet personality.  She loved family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. Lydia always made the world a brighter place by simply walking into a room.  She touched the lives of all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
Preceding Lydia in death are her parents, Julian and Emma Ruiz, and brothers Eloy Ruiz, Sr, Alvaro Ruiz and Julian Ruiz Jr.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband of 43 years: Carroll Donnie Bradshaw of Kingsville; a son: Roger (Rena) Bradshaw of Vietnam; two grandsons: Phillip Bradshaw of Austin and Jacob Bradshaw of San Marcos; a sister: Hilda Ruiz of Kerrville; and numerous nephews, a niece and multitude of friends.

Escobar, Antonia Z.Antonia Z. Escobar passed away July 29, 2009. She was 87.

Born on October 22, 1921, in Edroy, Texas to Marcelo and Albina Moreno Zapata, Antonia spent most of her life in Sinton, and most recently in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was employed with the Leo Owen family, Dr. and Mrs. Harren, the Newman family and the Lewis family with over 60 years of dedicated service.

She was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Church in Sinton, a Guadalupana, Crusillista and Hijas de Maria Society.

Survivors include two grandchildren: Sandra and Sharon Escobar; a daughter-in-law: Rose S. Escobar; one great-grandchild: Alexandria Holland Escobar, all of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Preceding in death is her husband, Armando Escobar, and her parents, Marcelo and Albina Escobar; a son: Armando Escobar, Jr; two sisters and one brother.
