Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007. Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991. Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.
Resthaven Funeral Home specializes in personal and dignified funeral services, offers a large selection of monuments and accepts pre-paid funeral arrangements made at other funeral homes. Elva Lerma Gonzalez, 76, of Sinton died October 12, 2009.
She was born January 30, 1933 in Taft, Texas to Rosendo and Eudelia Morin Lerma. She was an Educator having taught almost 40 years in Taft, Copperas Cove, McAllen and Sinton ISD’s.
Preceding her in death are her parents; a daughter, Denise Gonzalez; and brother, Rosendo Lerma, Jr.
Survivors include three daughters: Judy Garza (Arturo) of Kenedy, Texas, Patricia Barr (Bill) of Portland, Texas and Cynthia Martinez (Joe) of North Haven, Connecticut; their father: Leobardo Gonzalez of McAllen, Texas; three brothers: Reynaldo Lerma of Margate, Florida, Rolando Lerma of Alice, Texas and Ruben Lerma of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters: Esther Trevino of Houston, Texas and Tommie Gonzales of San Antonio, Texas; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

Virginio “Momez” Gomez, 68, passed away October 1, 2009. Virginio was born October 10, 1940 to Virginio and Estella Adams Gomez.
Virginio was a dance promoter for many years booking Tejano bands in Corpus Christi and the surrounding areas. Virginio was affiliated with big bands including Freddie Martinez, Augustin Ramirez, Joe Bravo, Los Unicos and Rudy T. Gonzalez. He also worked for Radio Station Majic 104.9 as a DJ. Virginio was the host of his own cable show “Virginio Gomez Presenta”. He loved to entertain the public and was a very charismatic man with a flair for clothing.
Virginio is preceded in death by his parents Virginio Gomez and Estella Adams Gomez, and a brother Alonzo Gomez.
Survivors include his wife Oralia Gomez of Oklahoma; children Linda Gomez (Joe), Virgil Gomez (Patsy), Roland Gomez, Debbie Medina, Stella Mitchell, Virginio David Gomez (Kelly), Gracie Thompson (Richard), Eddie Gomez, Margaret Davila (Rudy), Esmeralda Garza and Gracie Ruiz (Rolando); his sisters Elisa Candelario and Eloisa Salinas (Richard); brothers Gilbert Gomez (Yolanda) and Rudy Davila; 23 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren: Preston, Avery and Amaya; his friends Freddie Martinez, Humberto Lozano Lopez, Dan Alfaro and David Noyola.

Ruben A. Molina, 52, of Sinton died September 29, 2009.
He was born June 7, 1957 in Sinton to Ramon and Petra Aleman Molina. He was a mechanic.
Preceding him in death are his father Ramon Molina, brothers Juan and Daniel Molina, and sister Ramona Cardenas.
Survivors include two sons: Jeffery (Becky) Molina of Sinton and Ruben “Kramer” (Tanya) Molina of Taft; daughter: Jennifer Molina (Ray) of Robstown; his mother: Petra Molina of Sinton; brothers Polo (Elia) Molina of Banquete and Roland (Angie) Ybarra of Robstown; sisters: Minnie (Pete) Barrios of Sinton, Sylvia (Rene) Mata of St.Paul, and Linda (Eliseo) Saldivas of Taft; and 12 grandchildren.

Mamie Frances Cross, a homemaker, died September 30, 2009. She was 100.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Leslie Cross and daughter, Betty Maxwell.
Burial Services will be held in Tulsa, OK and will be announced at a later date.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Hartung of St. Paul and Wanda Clary of Foyil, OK; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Lucas Lee Ortiz of Alice, 22, a former member of the US Army National Guard Reserve and graduate of Agua Dulce High School, died Sunday, September 27, 2009.
Preceding him in death is his paternal grandfather, Arcadio Ortiz, Sr.
Visitation will begin Thursday, 11 am, Resthaven Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10 am, at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Sinton with burial in Taft Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Casey Lee Montes, Ricky Rivera, Jessie Nino, Jr., John Paul Anthony Longoria, Johnny Milton Nino and Jonathan Nino.
