  Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007.  Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas.  She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991.  Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.  Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.

  Resthaven Funeral Home specializes in personal and dignified funeral services, offers a large selection of monuments and accepts pre-paid funeral arrangements made at other funeral homes.  Resthaven Funeral Home’s state-of-the-art facility assures your loved one’s final memory will be personal, memorable and lasting.  Look for future Resthaven Chapels in neighboring Odem and Taft.

Green, Betty JaneBetty Jane Green, a resident of Papalote, passed away April 2, 2009.  She was 63.

Betty Green was born April 16, 1945 in Onida, New York.  She was a rural mail carrier in Skidmore and Tynan for twenty years.  Betty was a member of VFW 8625 Ladies Auxiliary in Sinton.  She was well liked by everyone and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Green, Jr. of Papalote; four daughters: Cindy (Andy) Hickman of Alvin, Dawn (Randy) Johnson of Corpus Christi, Lori Green of Seguin, Treasa (Damien) McFadden of North Carolina; two sons: Richard III (Melissa) Green of Seguin, Christopher (Fern) Green of Arizona; 13 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren.  Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mason, and a grandchild, Brytnee Gunter precede her in death.

Padilla, Francisco Francisco "Pancho" Padilla, a retired Pot Tender of 30 years for Reynolds Metals Company, passed away March 31, 2009. He was 84.

"Pancho" was born on May 22, 1924, in Mercedes, Texas to Demetrio and Amparo Abrego Padilla. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a WWII Veteran. In 1952, Corpus Christi, Texas became his home.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Trinidad Padilla of Corpus Christi, Texas; a son: Frank C. Padilla of Grand Prairie, Texas; a daughter: Nellie (Dario) Encinia of Sinton, Texas; a sister: Bertha Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Gloria, Maria, Dario, Celestina, Monica, Christina, David, and Daniel Encinia, Rene and David Valls; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; a son, Gilbert Padilla: and a daughter, Rachel Valls.

Flores, MikeMike Flores, a retired Postal Supervisor in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on March 17, 2009. He was 66.

Mike was born on May 8, 1942, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Juan and Eva Flores. He served his country in the US Air Force.

Survivors include two sons, Marc and Mick Flores; and a brother, Rudy Flores, of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Logue, Kathy LynnKathy Lynn Logue, 54, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in Mathis, Texas after succumbing to her battle with cancer that she faced with all the bravery and dignity we came to expect of her during her time with us.

Kathy was born on September 15, 1954 in Corpus Christi to Kenneth and Mary Logue. She graduated from Calallen High School in 1973. She spent her final year in Las Vegas, Nevada, living and working with her daughter, Lana, at First Comp Insurance.

Kathy’s gentle nature and innate nurturing abilities made her the perfect mother, and she took great joy in giving her energy and devotion to support the aspirations and dreams of her loved ones.

Kathy also enjoyed traveling and especially valued the time she spent with her two daughters, Lisa and Lana, and her grandchildren, Geric and Maya.

Kathy’s passing was preceded by the loss of her grandmother, Lauraetta Walston, and two cousins, Debra McDonald and Debra Turner.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Chris) Wilson, of San Antonio, Texas; her daughter, Lana Wright of Las Vegas, Nevada; parents, Kenneth and Mary Logue of Corpus Christi, Texas; two grandchildren: Geric and Maya Wilson of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters: Laura (Kyle) Balusek and Diana Brickley, all of Corpus Christi, Texas; three nephews: Sean Balusek, Blake Balusek and Philip Brickley; two nieces: Allison Brickley and Katie Brickley, all of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Survivors include a wife, Courtney Tijerina, of Sinton, Texas; a son, Israel Ray Tijerina of Sinton, Texas; two daughters, Madison Jo Pickens of Sinton, Texas and Starla Sherum of San Antonio, Texas; his parents, Mary Jane and Jose Lugo, of Sinton, Texas; six brothers, Ruben Gomez of Childress, Texas, Jacob Tijerina, George Tijerina, Adrian Lugo, Jose Lugo, Jr., all of Sinton, Texas, Dario (Marsha) Gomez of Ft. Irwing, CA.; three sisters, Brianna Tijerina, Dominga (Alfred) Olivarez and Rose Mary (DJ) Covington, all of Sinton, Texas; and a grandmother, Sylvia Tijerina of Sinton, Texas.

Preceding him in death are his father Raul Gomez; paternal grandparents, Angel and Dominga Gomez; and a maternal grandfather Santana Tijerina.
