Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007. Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991. Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.

Sylvester "Silver" Villasana, a resident of Sinton, passed away May 9, 2009. He was 28.
"Silver" was born on September 5, 1980 to Andres and Juanita Villasana, Jr. in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a 1999 graduate of Sinton High School and served his country in the United States Army. "Silver" was employed by RMX Merchandising for more than three years.
Survivors include his parents, Andres Jr. and Janie Villasana; a son, Efrain Villasana, all of Sinton, Texas; two brothers, Andres Villasana, III, and Tim (Lynette) Villasana of Austin, Texas; one grandmother, Francisca Garcia; one nephew, Anthony Villasana of Sinton, Texas; two nieces, Angelica Villasana of Sinton, Texas and Yaritza Villasana of Austin, Texas; numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Preceding "Silver" in death is his maternal grandfather, Ramon H. Garcia, and paternal grandmother, Anita Ozuna Villasana.

Jose Eloy Salazar, 59, passed away May 1, 2009.
Jose was born August 13, 1949 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Juan and Otilia Garcia Salazar. He spent most of his life in Gregory, Texas and most recently Sinton, Texas. Jose was a retired employee of The City of Corpus Christi.
Survivors include his wife Aurelia G. Salazar of Sinton, Texas; one daughter, Ida (Joe) Garcia; one son, Jose Eloy Salazar, Jr., both of Sinton, Texas; his father, Juan M. Salazar of Corpus Christi; six sisters, Olivia Perez of Houston, Texas, Lydia (Ramon) Gonzales, Janie (Robert) Garcia, Matilda (Raul) Esparza and Irma Galvan all of Corpus Christi, Texas, Julia (Sergio) Nesmith of Gregory, Texas; three brothers, Pedro (Mary) Molina of Corpus Christi, Texas, Roel Salazar of Corpus Christi, Texas Raynaldo (Dolores) Salazar of Los Angeles, California; seven grandchildren, Veronica (Steve) Botello, Marivell Garcia, Martin Garcia, Stephanie Salazar, Amanda Salazar, Adrian Salazar and Jose Eloy Salazar, III, all of Sinton, Texas.
Preceding Jose in death are his mother, Otilia Mary Molina, and two brothers, Ruben Salazar and Johnny Molina.
Pallbearers will be Pedro Molina and Max Garcia, both of Corpus Christi, Texas, Rene Martinez of Falfurrias, Texas, Joe Garcia, Martin Garcia, Jose Eloy Salazar, III, all of Sinton, Texas. Honorary Pallbearer will be Adrian Joseph Salazar of Sinton, Texas.

Eva Acosta Bargas, passed away April 16, 2009. She was 74.
Survivors include a daughter; Yolanda Bargas; two grandchildren, Albert and Edward Silva; one great-grandchild, Eddie Garcia.
Services will be private.

Barbara Sue Rudd Atkinson passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009, after a long illness. Barbara was born on July 18, 1936 to Mary Alice Watson and Lewis Schumpert Rudd in Waskom, Texas. She married John T. Atkinson Jr. on February 23, 1954, and after living in Waskom and Luling for several years, they moved to Odem in 1960. Barbara and John T. resided on the Angelita Ranch until John T’s passing in 1986. During these years, Barbara became quite the ranch hand and horsewoman.
Barbara was a graduate of Waskom High School and Del Mar College. After her daughters started school, Barbara began working as a teacher’s aide in the Odem Independent School District. She then worked as a Postal Clerk in the Odem Post Office for twenty years and retired in 1996. In 1987 Barbara became a volunteer for the Odem Volunteer Ambulance Service, and was certified as a trainer for the state. She went on to complete the nursing program at Del Mar College and, at age 60, became licensed as a Registered Nurse. She retired from the Post Office on a Friday and started her nursing career at Riverside Hospital in Corpus Christi the following Monday. Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church of Odem, and served many years on the Odem Public Library Board.
Barbara was a devoted wife and mother, and a proud, loving grandmother. She is survived by her daughters Sharon (Larry) Walker, Joan (Steve) McKaughan, and Cynthia “Cindy” (Scott) Roper; three grandsons: John (Misty) Walker, Matthew and Michael McKaughan; two great-grandsons: Garrett and Sam Walker, all of Odem; a brother: Frankie (LaJuan) Rudd of Marshall; and sisters-in-law: Loretta Ducey and Amelia Porta of Gladewater, Willa Mae Chandler of Tuleta, and Sandy Rudd of Waskom; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, John T.; her mother and father, Mary and Lewis Rudd; her brother, Lewis Rudd; her mother and father-in-law, Viola and John T Atkinson; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Atkinson.

Roberto "Bobby" Flores, 51, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2009. He was a self-employed landscaper for 10 years. Bobby was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Bobby was born October 12, 1957 in Sinton, Texas. He was a former resident of Sinton, but lived in Corpus Christi for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife: Patricia Flores of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sons: Daniel and Roberto Jose Flores of Corpus Christi, Texas; two daughters: Gabriella and Brianna Flores of Corpus Christi, Texas; six brothers: Juan (Nancy) Espinoza of Taft, Texas; Rene (Esther) Ramirez of Corpus Christi, Texas; Raymond, Sonny, Frank and Thomas Flores, all of Ft. Worth, Texas; four sisters: Maria Lambert of Corpus Christi, Texas; Rachel Martinez, Elena and Dolores, all of Ft. Worth, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, Josefa Espinoza Flores, Alberto Flores and Jose Ramirez, and two brothers, Moises and Jose Espinoza, precede Bobby in death.
