Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne Cantu-Moran in March 2007. Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991. Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. Yvonne is the daughter of Guadalupe Cantu and the late Charlie Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn and Brittany.

Oralia “Lala” Cantu passed away September 27, 2010 with her loving family by her side. She was 77. Lala was born in Buena Vista, Texas on June 13, 1933 to Eulogio and Guadalupe Salinas Espinoza. She was raised in La Rosita, Texas but made her home in Freer, Texas for the past 60 years. A hair dresser by trade who attended Stevenson Beauty College, Lala owned and operated Lala’s Beauty Shop in Freer, Texas. She and her husband, Edmundo, also owned and operated Eddie’s Garage Sales & Service. Lala was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She served 10 years in the Texas Silver Haired Legislature voted in by the community to represent five counties, and during her tenure served on the National Congress Silver Haired Legislature in Washington, DC. Lala read at church weekly; she was a member of the Water Board, having previously served as President, Vice-President and Secretary. Lala was Mayor Pro-tem for two years and served as a City Council member. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, AARP, Spanish American Genealogical Association of Corpus Christi, Rosary Society, Spanish Choir, American Red Cross, and was Vice President of the American Cancer Society.

Jimmy Ray Cordova, a 5-year resident of Victoria, Texas and former resident of Sinton, Texas, passed away September 25, 2010. He was 44. Jimmy was born in Sinton, Texas March 12, 1966 to Jimmy and Irma Barbosa Cordova. He was employed by Pioneer Oilfield Services in Victoria, Texas. Jimmy was passionate about his family, his work, fishing, the Dallas Cowboys and his wife, Ana. Though taken from us much too soon, Jimmy will always live in our hearts and memories. He gave us words to live by and strength to carry on.

Beloved Maria G. Ramos, 78, past away at her residence to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on the 25th of September 2010 after a long illness. She was born in Goliad, Texas on May 23, 1932 to Jesus and Laonides T. Guerrero. Maria was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She served our Lord Jesus as a Eucharistic Minister, the Altar Society and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi. She had a very special devotion to Our Lady of Shoenstatt. Maria was very caring and helpful to many. In her early work years, she became housekeeper to Bishop Drury and Bishop Gracida. She later became a health care provider and a foster parent. Maria is survived by three stepdaughters: Corina (Angel) Rodriguez, Lydia (Ramiro) Garcia and Carmen (David) Codarmaz; a stepson: Benny (Yolanda) Ramos, 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Eduvijes Guerrero; four brothers: Ladislado Guerrero, Tomas Guerrero, Fidencio Guerrero, Sr., and Francisco Guerrero; numerous nieces, nephews, God-children and friends.
Maria is preceded in death by her beloved husband Feliciano Ramos; a stepdaughter Clementina Holzerland; her parents Jesus and Laonides T. Guerrero; a brother Marcelino Guerrero; seven sisters: Baby Angelita, Baby Fabiana, Baby Antonia, Simona Guerrero, Eulalia Guerrero, Maria G. Valadez and Antonia G. Reyes.

John G. Heinemann, 63, passed away September 23, 2010.
John was born on July 22, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Johnny Vela and Mary Almanza Heinemann. John spent most of his life in Taft, Texas. He worked as a lineman for CP&L and maintenance for Al Willeford Chevrolet.
Survivors include two sons: John O. Heinemann of Corpus Christi, TX and John Gilbert Heinemann, Jr. of Midland, TX; two daughters: Monica Heinemann of San Antonio, TX and Laura Heinemann of San Diego, TX; one brother; Gene Heinemann of Corpus Christi, TX; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Preceding in death are his parents and a brother, Rudy Heinemann.
Visitation began Sunday, September 26, 2010, 5:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton. A rosary was held the same evening, 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. A funeral service was held Monday, September 27, 2010, 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Arnold O. Moreno officiating. Graveside services followed at Benavides Cemetery in Benavides, TX. Services entrusted to Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton, Texas.

Enrique “Ricky” Rivera passed away September 22, 2010. He was 73.
Ricky was born in Taft, Texas on July 15, 1937 to Timoteo and Paulita Castillo Rivera. Though formerly of Taft, Texas he made Sinton his home for the past 28 years. Ricky was employed with Sinton ISD for more than 20 years and San Patricio County for ten years.
