Ira Jay Ledford died January 30, 2013. He was 69. Ira was born in Beeville, Texas on October 05, 1943 to John Jay and Minnie Huggins Ledford. Ira was a truck driver. Survivors include son: John Jay Ledford of Washington; daughters: Melissa Lynn Brader of Sinton, Texas and Tanna (Billy) Kohease Strong of North Carolina; sisters: Lorene (Ed) Robertson-Nettles of Mathis, Texas, Joy Roane of Mathis, Texas and Faye (Micky) Thorp of Florence, Texas; seven grandchildren. Preceding Ira in death are his parents John and Minnie Ledford.

All services will be private.

2013010_1.jpgEzequiel “Kiko” T. Flores died January 19, 2013. He was 25. Ezequiel was born on January 1, 1988 in Sinton, Texas to Jose and Maria Estela Torres Flores. He was a plumber employed with Joe’s Plumbing of Taft, Texas.
Survivors include Ezequiel‘s father Jose Flores of Sinton, Texas; son Julian Flores of Taft, Texas; daughters: Ezalynn Flores of Sinton, Texas and Hailey Flores of Taft, Texas; brothers: Joe Flores, Jr. of Sinton, Texas and Benito Gonzales of New Mexico; sisters: Olivia Flores and Juanita Gonzales, both of Sinton, Texas.
Preceding Ezequiel in death is his mother Maria Estela Flores and sister Sandra Flores.
Visitation began Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 11:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton. A rosary will be held the same evening, 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. A Christian Ritesservice will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013, 10:00 AM, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. Burial will follow at Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton.

2013009_1.jpgGilberto Pena died January 14, 2013. He was 35. Gilberto was born in Taft, Texas on January 31, 1977 to Oscar Sr. and Rafaela Serna Pena. Gilberto was a former operator employed by J. Carroll Weaver, and most recently employed by CCAD in Corpus Christi.  

Survivors include Gilberto’s parents: Oscar Pena, Sr. and Rafaela Serna; brother: Oscar (Linda) Pena, Jr., all of Sinton, Texas; sisters: Rose Mary Nieto of Sinton, Texas, Isabel (Candido) Ramos of Sandia, Texas and  Cristela Pena of Sinton, Texas; five nephews; eight nieces; one great-nephew and three great-nieces.

Preceding Gilberto in death is his nephew Oscar Pena, III.

Visitation began Wednesday, January 16, 2013, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue Thursday, January 17, 2013, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, at Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton. A rosary will be held Thursday, January 17, 2013, 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, January 18, 2013, 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Sinton, with Father Patrick Serna as celebrant. Burial will follow at Eternal Rest Cemetery.

Ruiz, Alberto C. Sr.

2013008_1.jpgAlberto C. Ruiz, Sr. passed away January 11, 2013. Alberto “La Toronja” married Nicolasa Garcia in 1960 and became an instant dad to her seven small children. They had eight more children. He worked for H & K Construction Company for 38 years as a back hoe operator before retiring due to diabetes. He volunteered his back hoe services to the community of Sinton, especially during floods, hurricanes and other emergencies. Before seat belts, his children enjoyed numerous rides in the back hoe bucket to see the aftermath of the floods. He had a wonderful sense of humor which sustained him through his illnesses. His passions were watching westerns and in his younger days, fishing and hunting.

Dragoo, Myra Beth
Resthaven Obituaries

2013007_1_copy.jpgMyra Beth Dragoo, age 76, passed away January 10, 2013 after a prolonged illness from a stroke, Parkinsons and Alzheimers diseases. Myra was born April 16, 1936 in Burke, Angelina County, Texas to Martin D. Allbritton and Henrietta Moore Allbritton. After the age of 5, she lived with her mother and step-father, E.E. Zuch, growing up in Corpus Christi, Texas where she attended schools and worked for Citizens Standard Life Insurance Co. Myra and her future husband, L.D. “Bill” Dragoo first met at a county-western dance in 1957 and were married April 5, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas.  They resided in Corpus Christi until 1960, then moved to Sinton. They continued to enjoy dancing most of their married life. Myra and Bill were blessed with four sons. The eldest, William, died in infancy. She was a member of Sinton Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir for over 50 years.
