Eugenio “La Lumbre” Rodriguez, 65, passed away March 28, 2010 in a Sinton Nursing Center.

Eugenio was born on November 15, 1944 in Sinton, Texas to Ernesto and Edelmira Paz Rodriguez. He was a pipe fitter and welder more than 40 years most recently employed by Becon Construction.

Survivors include his mother Mildred Lopez and stepfather Tony Lopes both of Sinton, TX; a son, Nathan (Jessica) Lopez “La Lumbre Jr” of Sinton, TX; two daughters; Olivia Vulverde and Rita Rodriguez, both of Corpus Christi, TX; a brother, Eloy P. Rodriguez of Sinton, TX; 15 grandchildren; and two nieces: Jessica (Chon) Rodriguez and Amanda (Anthony) Garcia both of Odem, TX.

Preceding in death are his maternal grandparents, Pedro and Olivia Paz; a daughter, Rachel Rodriguez; an aunt, Irene Guerra; and a nephew, Eloy “Brother” Rodriguez.

Visitation began Monday, March 29, 2010, 5:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A rosary was held on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, March 31, 2010, 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sinton with Father Paul Rajareegam as celebrant. Burial followed at Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton.
