Guadalupe Adams Cantu, beloved Mother and Grandmother, went peacefully to be with the Lord March 30, 2010.  She was 83.

Lupe was born August 15, 1926 to Leocadio and Andrea Sandoval Adams in Sinton, Texas. Lupe was the wife of the late Charlie R. Cantu, Sr. In their sixty years of marriage, they raised five children with the old-fashioned qualities instilled in them by their parents.  They taught their children to worship God; to love and be loved; to give unselfishly; to forgive and be forgiven; to set goals and to succeed.

Even though Mother was a housewife, she was a professional cook, housekeeper and laundry attendant.  Her most valuable possessions were her children and grandchildren. Though we shed tears because we miss you, we are comforted knowing you walk with Jesus on the arm of your beloved Charlie. You gave us all you had to offer and we, your children, vow to continue to make you proud by teaching our children what you taught us.

Lupe leaves behind to cherish her memories sons Skipper Cantu and wife Adreana of Sinton, Texas, Lambert Cantu and wife Dela of El Paso, Texas; daughters Yolanda Schmitz and husband William of Corpus Christi, Texas, Yvonne Hickel and husband Lee of Sinton, Texas; sisters Donna Salas and Gloria Hernandez of Sinton, Texas; brothers Mac Adams and wife Rogie of Corpus Christi, Texas, Gonzalo Adams Sr. and wife Hilda of Sinton, Texas; son-in-law Paul Gonzales of Sinton, Texas; Grandchildren Jimmy Reeves, Jr, Michelle Reeves Hesseltine, Steve Reeves, Frances Gonzales Rodriguez, Debra Gonzales DeLeon, Paula Gonzales Doty, Laura Cantu, Tres Cantu, Carly Cantu, April Cantu, Kelsey Cantu, Desiree Cantu, Brittany Hickel and Autumn Moran; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.

Preceding Lupe in death are her parents, husband, daughter Viola “Butch” Gonzales, son-in-law Bart Moran, sisters Esperanza Castaneda and Stella Davila, brothers Valente Adams, Robert Adams and Leocadio Adams, Jr.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 4, 2010, 9 AM to 9 PM, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton, Texas.  Rosary will be the same evening, 7 PM, at the funeral home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 5, 2010, 10 AM, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Sinton, Texas with Father Shaji Varghese as celebrant.  Burial will follow at Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton, Texas.
