Alvin farmed and ranched in San Patricio County for 73 years. He was the oldest living member of the First United Methodist Church in Odem, Texas. He was an usher in the church for 52 years. For many years Alvin served as Scout Master of Troop 35 in Odem, Texas. He was a kind-hearted, generous man that loved his family and his God. Alvin tried to help everyone he came into contact with. He loved to dance and play dominos. Alvin lost his beloved wife Frances in 1971 to cancer. Alvin is survived by four children who were blessed to have the best dad in the world. Left behind to cherish his memories are sons Dr. Alvin Michael (Danette) Spiekerman of Temple, TX and Martin (Dr. Patricia, DDS) Spiekerman of Corpus Christi, TX; daughters Frances (Dan) Baen, and Cathy Salinas both of Corpus Christi, TX. Other survivors include 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 10, 2010, 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Odem, Texas. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Odem, Texas. Pallbearers are Gary Stalcup, Rob Stalcup, Jon Whatley, John Barrett, Don Gillis and Bobby Roach. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 600 in Odem, Texas 78370. The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to Trisun River Ridge Nursing Center for their excellent care for the past three years. Services entrusted to Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton, Texas. |

Alvin John Spiekerman died at age 98 on July 8, 2010. He was born in Beeville, Texas on September 14, 1911 to John Alvin and Anna Duderstadt Spiekerman. Alvin and his family moved to Odem, Texas in 1922.
