Maclovio S. Adams went home to our heavenly father on Saturday, August 15, 2010, the day before his 83rd birthday. He was born on August 16, 1927 in Sinton to Leocadio and Andrea Sandoval Adams.

Mack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rogelia; six children, Gloria (Lupe) Almendarez of Falfurrias; Grace (Kiko) Barrera of Corpus Christi; Maclovio (Renee) Adams, Jr. of San Antonio; Linda (Patrick) Romero, Dolores (Tomas) Pena and Sandra Flores all of Corpus Christi. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandcholdren, brother Gonzalo (Hilda) Adams and sister Audona Salas of Sinton.

Mack is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Hector Flores.

As a couple Mack and Rogelia were always philanthropic with their time. They loved sponsoring and contributing to their community. Mack was very passionate about working hard and would always encourage others to always pursue their educational and business dreams. His family remembers him as a man with a dream and a commitment to family and business. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mack proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict as an ammunition specialist. As a young man, Mack dreamed of becoming a successful businessman. He started his business career with Mack’s Drive Inn on Baldwin in 1964 while employed at American Smelting Company. In 1967, he started the first Mi Tierra Restaurant on Morgan Street. Mack and Rogelia then continued to expand their operations with Mi Tierra Restaurants around the Corpus Christi area. As a businessman, Mack was always a visionary. He never had a dream that he didn’t pursue and execute with success. Mack was a member of the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce, Mexican Chamber of Commerce and was a longtime member of the Lucky Strikers Social Club. In 1979, Mack was chosen Business Man of the Year by the Mexican Chamber of Commerce.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Wednesday, August 18, 2010 with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM the same evening at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 19,2010 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. NO PROCESSION FROM FUNERAL HOME. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
