Aurelia C. Mendez passed away December 19, 2010. She was 81.
Aurelia was born on September 22, 1929, in Taft, Texas to Jesus and Jesusa Lara Castillo. She was a life-long resident of Taft, Texas.

Survivors include her husband: Guadalupe Mendez of Taft, TX; three sons; Guadalupe Mendez, Jr., Raul Mendez and Juan Mendez all of Waxahachie, TX; three daughters: Anita Villegas of Clute, TX, Gloria Flores of Taft, TX and Elvia Soto of College Station, TX; 34 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren.  Preceding in death are three children: Delia Mendez, Sulema Rios and David C. Mendez and two grandchildren: Christina Rios and Manuel Villegas.
Visitation began Tuesday, December 21, 2010, 1:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A rosary was held the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, December 22, 2010, 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church in Taft, Texas with Father Francisco Lopez as celebrant. Burial followed at Taft Memorial Park Cemetery, Taft, Texas.
