Guadalupe Alaniz died September 21, 2011. He was 77. Lupe was born in Yorktown, Texas on February 10, 1934 to Jose and Victoria Garcia Alaniz. He was a lifelong resident of Sinton and spent most of his adult life in construction working for both H & K Construction and Tennessee Pipeline.

Survivors include his wife, Simona Cavazos Alaniz of Sinton, Texas; daughters Maria Alaniz Contreras (James) and Mary Jane Alaniz Davila both of Sinton, Texas and Elsa Alaniz Valencia of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother Felix Alaniz of Sinton, Texas; sisters Virginia Alaniz Chapa and Elodia Alaniz Garcia both of Sinton, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceding in death are his parents; a son, Ruben Alaniz; and a sister, Janie Marines.

Visitation began on Saturday, September 24, 2011, 3:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton. A prayer service was held Sunday, September 25, 2011, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The funeral service was held Monday, September 26, 2011, 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton.
