Survivors include his wife, Simona Cavazos Alaniz of Sinton, Texas; daughters Maria Alaniz Contreras (James) and Mary Jane Alaniz Davila both of Sinton, Texas and Elsa Alaniz Valencia of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother Felix Alaniz of Sinton, Texas; sisters Virginia Alaniz Chapa and Elodia Alaniz Garcia both of Sinton, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceding in death are his parents; a son, Ruben Alaniz; and a sister, Janie Marines. Visitation began on Saturday, September 24, 2011, 3:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton. A prayer service was held Sunday, September 25, 2011, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The funeral service was held Monday, September 26, 2011, 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton.

Guadalupe Alaniz died September 21, 2011. He was 77. Lupe was born in Yorktown, Texas on February 10, 1934 to Jose and Victoria Garcia Alaniz. He was a lifelong resident of Sinton and spent most of his adult life in construction working for both H & K Construction and Tennessee Pipeline.
