Mariano G. Garcia, 72, of Odem, Texas died Friday, July 27, 2007 at his residence with his family at his side.  He was born in Odem, Texas September 12, 1934 to Manuel and Eufracia Gomez Garcia. He was a lifelong resident of Odem and a retired,  self-employed truck driver.

Surivivors include his wife of 51 years, Gloria D. Garcia; a son, Roberto (Eva) Garcia;  2 daughters, Mary Lou (Refugio) Coronado and Sulema (Benigno) Moreno, all of Odem, Texas;  a sister, Pat Walker of Houston, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  His parents, two brothers and a grandson, Michael Garcia, precede him in death.

Visitation began Sunday, July 29, 2007, 11:00 AM, Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton, Texas. A rosary was recited Sunday, July 29, 2007, 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 30, 2007, 10:00 AM, Sacred Heart Church, Odem, Texas with Father Isiasis Estepa as celebrant. Interment will follow in San Pedro Cemetery, Odem, Texas.  Pallbearers will be Robert Ray Garcia, Joey Coronado, Benjamin Moreno, Benigno Moreno, Kevin Coronado and Jaime Garcia.
