2008002_1.jpgMildred Howard Gingrich, a long time Sinton resident, passed away, Monday, January 14, 2008, in Phoenix, Arizona, following a long bout with Alzheimer’s. Mrs. Gingrich was born September 2, 1922, Sabinal, Texas. She was 85.

Mildred leaves two sons and their families behind, Richard “Dickie” (Charlotte) Gingrich of Sinton, and Larry (Carole) Gingrich of Scottsdale, Arizona; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Mildred was preceded in death by her former husband, O.A. (Sonny) Gingrich; her parents, Virgie and Everet Howard; siblings, Nelly Bertling, Elsie Taylor, and James Howard, all of Corpus Christi, and Katherine Johnson, of Houston.

For over 25 years, Mildred was chairperson of the San Patricio County American Cancer Society and a long time member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Sinton. She was very active and enjoyed very much social and philanthropic activities of the Sinton Chapter of the ESA Sorority-her “sisters” as she referred to them. To many, she will be best remembered as an avid deer hunter and a baker of exceptional apple pies. Her family and friends miss her immensely and she will be remembered forever.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2008, 11:00 AM, at the Grace Lutheran Church, 121 W. George St., in Sinton.

Burial services will be held at a later date in the Hill Country Cemetery of Rio Frio.

In lieu of flowers, as Mildred would have wished, please direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society (800-227-2345) or a charity of your choice.
