ARANSAS PASS - James Wheeler Gooding, 64, of Aransas Pass, TX, succumbed to liver disease surrounded by his family on November 28, 2017.

James is survived by his sons Jason and Jimmie Gooding and wife, Amanda; grandchildren Jace and Shandi; great grandson Elijah, and many loving sisters, nieces, nephews and extended family.  James was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all.

James had a career in the oilfield and worked as a manager for the Western Company for twenty years before pursing his second career.  James loved the sea and worked as a tug boat captain until he retired. He also enjoyed cooking and reading. James was always there to help friends with projects or whatever else they needed him for.

A special thank you to all the friends and family that cared for James during his battle with liver disease.
