Aransas Pass – Justina Ortiz passed away August 25, 2017. She was 90.

Justina was born in Gregory, Texas on August 6, 1927 to Jose and Julia (Rodriguez) Carrizales. She was a lifetime resident of Aransas Pass and a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. Justina was a former Breader who worked for Coastal Freezing. She was a devoted wife, and dedicated Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She had a strong relationship with God, she loved cooking for her family and enjoyed spending time crocheting.

Preceding Justina in death is her husband: Bruno E. Ortiz; daughters: Magdalena Ortiz and Della Lopez Ortiz; sons: Domingo, Conception, Juan and Bruno Ortiz, Jr. one grandson; parents: Jose and Julia Carrizales; one sister and one brother.

Survivors include her sons: Severo Ortiz, Jose Ortiz and Alfredo Ortiz (Mary), all of Aransas Pass, Texas; daughters: Rosa Santos (Ladislado), Felicitas Haney (James), Olga Castro (George) and Maria Torres (Ruben), all of Aransas Pass, Texas; 2 brothers; 34 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will begin Monday, September 4, 2017, 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton. A rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 5, 2017, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ingleside with Father James Vasquez as celebrant. Burial will follow in San Antonio Cemetery, Aransas Pass.

Pallbearers will be James Haney II, Francisco Lopez III, Joseph Ortiz, Alfredo Ortiz, Christopher Ortiz, Jamie Ortiz, Skipper Ray Castro, George Castro, Jr., Ismael Castro, Jose Ortiz, Jr. Benito Lopez and St. John Lopez, Jr.
