Taft – Modesta P. Garcia passed away peacefully at her residence June 16, 2017 with her loving family at her side. She was 75.

Modesta was born in Taft, Texas on September 15, 1941 to Guadalupe and Petra (Silvas) Perez. She was a lifelong resident of Taft, Texas.

Preceding Modesta in death is her daughter: Palmira Rivera; great-grandson: Zachary Scott Rivera; parents: Guadalupe and Petra Perez; and brothers: Vicente Perez and Ramiro Perez.

Survivors include her husband: Arturo Garcia of Taft, Texas; sons: Robert Garcia (Monica) of Taft, Texas; Benito Rivera, Jr. of Arlington, Texas; Guadalupe Garcia (Sandra) of Taft, Texas; Chris Garcia and Rene Garcia, both of Irving, Texas; daughters: Aida Rivera, Sylvia Longoria (Raymond “Chote”), and Elvira Gonzalez (Chris), all of Taft, Texas; brothers: Lionicio Perez of Corpus Christi, Texas and Frank “Pancho” Perez of Dallas, Texas; 27 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2017, 5:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton.  A holy rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 21, 2017, 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Taft. 

Pallbearers will be Benito Longoria, Adrian Rojas, Anthony Longoria, Alexander Longoria, Christopher Garcia and Benny Rivera.
