Roy Elmore Hranicky

November 10, 1927 ~ November 7, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Corpus Christi – Roy E. Hranicky passed away November 7, 2017.  He was 89.  Roy was born near Yorktown, Texas on November 10, 1927 to John Hranicky and Jennie (Simecek) Hranicky.  He was a graduate of Orange Grove High School in 1945, then attended Texas A&I College at Kingsville.  In 1948 he was selected as one of 17 participants in the first International Farm Youth Exchange Program.  He was a delegate to The Netherlands where he spent three months on a farm near the North Sea.  He proudly served in the United States Army.  After his discharge he entered his teaching profession.  He taught in Premont, Smiley, Banquete, was principal of Orange Grove High School and a Counselor at Odem High School.  During this time he was a Real Estate Broker.  In 1975 he left public school work and opened Hranicky Real Estate office in Orange Grove, Texas and was instrumental in the development of land in the Orange Grove, Texas area.

He served on the Board of Directors of the Federal Land Bank of Robstown, Texas and successive Credit Boards for 32 years and as Chairman of the Board for 20 years. He served on the Board of Directors of the First State Bank of Odem for many years.

Roy is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lou Hranicky and his parents: John and Jennie Hranicky.

Survivors include his 4 nephews: John Elledge (Christi) of Houston, Texas; George Elledge (Carolyn) of Houston, Texas; John Curlee (Jane) of Sinton, Texas; and Chris Curlee (Brenda) of Sinton, Texas; 2 nieces: Lou Ann Mattison of Anchorage, Alaska and Dawn Curlee Carlson (John Kraft) of Terre Haute, Indiana. Roy is also survived by his dear friend and caregiver, whom he referred to as a son, Jeremy Webb.

Visitation will begin Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Sinton.  A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church, Sinton. Burial will follow in Sinton Cemetery, Sinton.
