Welcome to the memorial page for

Clara Kay Brown Barnes

August 28, 1947 ~ September 18, 2017 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Clara Kay Brown Barnes was born in Jasper, Texas on August 28, 1947 to Ann and Charlie Brown.  She passed away on September 18, 2017 in Aransas Pass, Texas at her home with her loving family by her side. She was 70.

Kay was a resident of Aransas Pass for 33 years. She was a graduate of Jasper High School, Class of 1965. Kay received her teaching degree at Texas A&M, Corpus Christi and began teaching in Aransas Pass in 1994. Kay was a dedicated, admired and respected teacher. She was even awarded Teacher of the Year for the contributions she made to her pupils and to the classroom.

Kay is preceded in death by Earl Barnes, her husband of 40 years and brother Charlie Brown II.

Survivors include her daughter: Lindsie Barnes; a son Hunter Barnes: sister: Brenda Brown Kemp; her beloved grandchildren: Zayden and Fisher Barnes; nephews: Barry Forest and Charlie Brown III.

Kay's wishes were to forego a service and request that you remember her as you knew her.  In response to many inquiries, the family has named the following two organizations where donations may be made in her memory:  Harbor Hospice, (4449 S. Alameda St. Corpus Christi, Texas 78412), for all the kind support extended to Kay and her family; and to Christ in Action, (PO Box 4200 Manassas, VA 20108), for the volunteers from across the county who have worked tirelessly to restore Kay's home to a peaceful place after Hurricane Harvey.
