Annaville – Elder Ray Black passed away peacefully May 22, 2019. He was 80.
Elder Ray was born November 3, 1938 in Leesville, Texas to Ira H. and Jessie Pearl (Marsh) Black. He graduated Nixon High School in 1957. Elder Ray was a resident of Corpus Christi (Annaville area) since 1969. He was a retired Freight Agent employed by Continental Airlines. Elder Ray served his country in the US Army. “Gran”, as he was lovingly known by his family, left a void the day he passed. Gran never met a stranger. His family and friends knew they could count on his daily weather reports since he knew the weather like the back of his hand. Gran was often more accurate than most meteorologists. We are at peace knowing Gran has reunited with our beloved Mamaw. He will be missed by his family, his friends and everyone who knew him. The family of Elder Ray Black asks that everyone keep them in prayer.
Preceding in death is his wife: Wanda “Mamaw” Black; his parents: Ira and Jessie Pearl Black; and his brothers: Kent, Leonard, C.J., Marshall Black.
Survivors include a son: Britt Ray Black (Betty) of Leesville, Texas; a daughter: Brenda Jurach (Rick) of Sinton, Texas; grandchildren: Tiffany Jurach, Chase Jurach and Megan Beams; great-grandson: Noah Riedel; and many friends and acquaintances.
The family will host a Memorial Service on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the S&J Bakery located at 9618 Leopard Street in Corpus Christi, Texas. The family will receiver guests 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
