Mathis – Elva Villarreal Zapata passed away peacefully on October 7, 2018. She was 78.
Elva was born in Sandia, Texas on April 29, 1940 to Siria Morin Ortiz and Manuel Moreno Villarreal, Sr. She was a lifetime resident of Mathis, Texas where she worked for Mathis ISD food service program and was the Pastor for Templo Bethania.
Preceding in death is her husband: Pedro Zapata, Jr.; parents: Manuel Sr. and Siria Villarreal; brother: Manuel Villarreal, Jr.; and sister: Oralia Boyd.
Survivors include her sons: Pedro “Pete” Zapata, III (Lupe) of Mathis, Texas; Pablo “Paul” Zapata of Austin, Texas; Patrick Zapata (Tina) of Mathis, Texas and Philip Zapata (April) of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren: Alanah Patterson; Cristi Zapata; Katherine Zapata; Alyssa Zapata and Philip Zapata; sisters: Elia Garza (Alfredo) of Roswell, New Mexico; Mollie Rivera of San Diego, California; Olaya Canas (Roberto) of Flower Mound, Texas; Yolanda Amancio (Pete) of Ramona, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, October 21, 2018, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton.
