Aransas Pass - Erienell "Nell" Gum Callender, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Aransas Pass, TX.  She was born June 18, 1924 in Chilton, TX.  She was the daughter of Hattie Mae and Elic Gum.  She and her family moved to Aransas Pass in 1928 and graduated from  Aransas Pass High School in 1942.  In 1944, Nell married Vercie W. Callender and together they raised three sons, Marcel, Ronald and Michael.  Throughout her life Nell was an avid fisherman who loved to be on the water.  She enjoyed many years playing bridge with friends and family.  She also loved traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.  Holidays were her favorite times when her family would gather together in her home.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Vercie W. Callender; her son: Marcel Callender; and her parents: Hattie Mae and Elic Gum. Also preceding her in death were her three sisters: Norene, Geraldine, Nita, and her brother, E.H.

Nell is survived by her sons: Ronald ( G.G.) and Michael (Rossi).  She is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Nell will be laid to rest at San Patricio Memorial Gardens next to her husband at a private family ceremony.
