Espiridion “Speedy” Casanova, 92 of Sinton, died Monday, May 8, 2017.

Mr. Casanova was born September 20, 1924, in Skidmore, Texas to Rafael and Felicita (Quijas) Casanova. He was  preceded in death by his grandparents, his father and mother  Rafael (Felicita) Casanova; his beloved wife of 68 years, Sulema Casanova;  brothers Arturo, Lorenzo, Antonio and Rafael Casanova;  sisters Angelita (Casanova) Guajardo and Juanita (Casanova) Montelongo.

Survivors include his daughter:  Alma (Ramon) Cancino of Sinton; his son:  Oscar (Yolanda) Casanova of Sinton; 7 grandchildren:  JoAnna (Leo) Martinez of Corpus Christi; Roman (Mary) Cancino of Portland; Lisa Cancino of Sinton; Karen (Chad) Coffindaffer of Beeville; Marty (Elsie) Cancino of Sinton; Kathy (Albert) Gaitan of Beeville and Gabriel (Vanessa) Casanova of Corpus Christi; 18 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.  

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 12 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 PM Saturday, May 13, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial to follow in Eternal Rest Cemetery in Sinton.

Pallbearers will be Marty Cancino, Gabriel Casanova, Roman Cancino Jr., Justin Fira, Christopher Cancino and Bryan Gaitan.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Roman Cancino, Mike Mouttet, Jorge Casanova, Lucas Gaitan, Christian Jardon, Jayden Cancino, Roman Cancino and Noah Casanova.
