Gladys Boyls Obituary

Sinton – Gladys Faye Boyls passed away peacefully on August 6, 2019. She was 99.

Gladys was born in Brady, Texas on April 26, 1920 to J. W. and Leama (Attaway) Ewing. Gladys met the love of her life, Owen “Cliff” Clifton Boyls, during the WWII era and married on November 14, 1941. They made their home in Sinton, Texas where they owned and operated Boyls Dusting Service for 60 years. She was his partner and office manager. Gladys was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sinton Texas where she was also a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter in Sinton, Texas. Gladys moved back to Brady, Texas after the passing of her husband. In her later years, she became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and joined the Wednesday Night Knitting Club of Houston, Texas. Gladys also became a member of Bible Baptist Church and joined the Heart of Texas Garden Club in Brady, Texas. 

Preceding in death is her husband of 68 years: Owen “Cliff” Clifton Boyls; children; Ellen Ann Boyls and Owen Clifton Boyls, Jr.; and her parents: J.W. and Leama Ewing; brother: W.L. “Buddy” Ewing: and sister: Irene Bomer.

Survivors include her daughters: Saundra Boyls of Houston, Texas and Betty Su

McCarley (Clyde) of Brady, Texas; 6 grandchildren: Faye Gadberry (Garth) of Heath, Texas; Ray Schorre (Kim) of Houston, Texas; Cliff McCarley of Arlington, Texas; Darren McCarley (Mandy); Wes McCarley (Regina) of Florence, Texas; Suzanne Moore (Mark) of  Hutto, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren: Anna Nutt (Dillon) of Longview, Texas; Melissa Moye (Mark); Bryan: Madison; Caden; Gage; Elizabeth and Joshua McCarley; Maverick and Madelyn Moore; and John Gordon; 3 great-great-grandchildren: Sadie and Harper Nutt and Maximus Moye; brother: Don Ewing; sister: Betty Gifford; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 12:00PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A chapel service will be held, the same morning, 11:30 AM, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sinton Cemetery, Sinton. Pallbearers will be Ray Schorre, Cliff McCarley, Darren McCarley, Wes McCarley, Mark Moore, John Bomer and Garth Gadberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Sharif Mezayek, Don Ewing, Clyde McCarley, Steve Gifford, Dillon Nutt and Mark Moye. A Memorial Service will be held in Brady, Texas on Saturday, September 7, 2019, 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at the Brady Community Room in Brady, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
