James Allen Columbus

Sinton – James A. Columbus passed away March 18, 2018 with his loving family by his side. He was 88.

James was born February 20, 1930 in Wink, Texas to Opal Estelle (Scales) and Samuel L. Columbus. He was a resident of Sinton, Texas since marrying his loving wife, Lillie in 1956, and prior resident of Portland, Texas. James was formerly employed as a Switch Engine Driver for Corpus Christi Public Grain Elevator more than 13 years. He served his country and was a veteran of the US Army. James was a loving father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

James is preceeded in death by a great-granddaughter: Marianna Stephens; his parents: Sam and Opal Columbus; sisters: Chloe Jane Wood, Barbara Borders and Martha Tucker; and brothers: Tommy Columbus and Harold Columbus.

Survivors include his wife: Lillie Columbus of Sinton, Texas; a son: Donnie Columbus (Mary); a daughter: Debra Columbus, all of Sinton, Texas; 3 grandchildren: Grace, Marissa and Michael Columbus; brothers: Bob Columbus of Salt Lake City, UT and Richard Columbus of Weatherford, Texas.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton, Texas. The family will receive guests from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be Thursday, March 22, 2018, 10:00 AM at Sinton Cemetery in Sinton, Texas with Pastor Sandra Moreno officiating.
