Sinton – James “Jimmy” Reeves, Sr. passed away peacefully February 28, 2019 with his loving family at his side. He was 76.
Jimmy was born May 4, 1942 in Greenville, South Carolina to Inez (Vickery) and Graham Herndon. He was a resident of Sinton since 1964. Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. He was stationed in Corpus Christi and chose to make Sinton his home. Jimmy was formerly employed by the Sinton Police Department, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He later made the transition to the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Department where he was Chief Jailer. Jimmy also served the community in the Sinton Volunteer Fire Department. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a part-time employee of Resthaven Funeral Home. Jimmy never met a stranger. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by an entire community.
Preceding in death are his parents: Graham “Bo” and Inez Herndon; sister: Linda Ellison; and great-grandson: Austin Stokes.
Survivors include his wife: Gloria Reeves of Sinton, Texas; his children: James “Jim” Reeves, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; Michelle Reeves Moseley (Daryl) of Corpus Christi, Texas; Steve Reeves (Kim) of Sugarland, Texas; 6 grandchildren: James Reeves, III (Caitlin) of San Antonio, Texas; Ashley Stokes (Josh) of San Antonio, Texas; John Hesseltine of Corpus Christi, Texas; Julia Reeves of Richmond, Texas; Marilisa Estrada of Skidmore, Texas and Kailey Linn of Sugarland, Texas; 5 great-grandchildren: Leonidas Reeves and Dorian Reeves, both of San Antonio, Texas; Dwight Abrejano of Corpus Christi, Texas; Audra Trombly and Brock Stokes, both of San Antonio, Texas; stepson: Wally Trevino (June) of Beijing, China; brother: Eddie Herndon (Shari) of Anderson, SC; mother-in-law: Lina Paz of Sinton, Texas; brother-in-law: Ray Ellison; numerous nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Sinton. The family will receive guests from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Service and Last Call presentation by Law Enforcement will be held at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 6, 2019, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow, 1:00 PM, at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
