Sinton – Joe T. Chavez passed away peacefully May 7, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He was 83.

Joe was born in Taft, Texas on December 28, 1933 to Jose P. and Consuelo (Torres) Chavez. He owned and operated Chavez Trucking Company. Joe’s career as a commercial truck driver spanned more than 40 years. He was a resident of Sinton, Texas 25 years, and former resident of Calallen, Texas.

Preceding in death are his parents: Jose P. and Consuelo Chavez;

sisters: Porfiria Elizondo and Jesusa Acosta; and brothers: Tanis T. Chavez and Jesus Chavez.

Survivors include his sisters: Pat Gonzales of Sinton, Texas and Salva Chapa of Baytown, Texas; a daughter: Sabina C. Richter (Randy) of Sinton, Texas; a son: Eloy Martinez of Sinton, Texas; 6 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2017, 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A holy rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 10, 2017, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Sinton, Texas. Burial will follow in Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton.
