Luis Reyes Rios

Aransas Pass – Luis Reyes Rios passed away peacefully in New Braunfels, Texas May 19, 2017. He was 71.

Luis was born May 9, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas to Trinidad and Esther (Reyes) Rios.  He resided in Muskegon, MI most of his life and later San Jose, California. Luis was currently a resident of Aransas Pass since 2004. 

In recent months Luis was cared for by his son, Luis Rios, Jr. He then moved to the home of his loving sister, Janie Banda in New Braunfels, who cared for him in his final days.

Mr. Rios was a veteran of the US Army.  He was an accomplished welder/pipefitter for Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 154. As a proud union member he spent the majority of his career working for General Electric. He traveled the world doing the work he loved until his retirement. In his retirement he enjoyed early morning breakfasts with friends and family, frequenting the local Moose Lodge, spending time with his family, and visiting his children and grandchildren. He loved fishing and was passionate about politics and current affairs. You could find him most days watching the History Channel or CNN.

 

Survivors include his sons: Luis Rios, Jr. of Muskegon, MI; Frankie Rios of Muskegon, MI; daughters: Irene Rios Beckham (USN-Ret. MMC Aubrey Charles Beckham II) of Olalla, Washington; Melissa Rios Roberts (USN CW02 Jason Benjamin Roberts) of Coronado, Ca.; grandchildren: USN HT2 Aubrey Charles Beckham III of Olalla, WA; USMC Cpl Austin Luis Beckham of Olalla, WA; Kennedy Ann Rios of Muskegon, MI;  Alexander Roberts of Coronado, CA; Benjamin Manuel Roberts of Coronado, CA;  his only great grandchild:  Kaiden Rios;  brothers: Felipe Rios of Oklahoma; Trinidad Rios and Benny Rios of Michigan; sisters: Janie Banda (Carlos) of New Braunfels, TX ; Guadalupe Martinez (Rudy) of Michigan; Lucy Valdez of San Antonio TX; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

 

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017, 4:00 PM at Our Lady of Assumption Church located at 2414 Main St. in Ingleside, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Luis Rios requests contributions be made to your local Veterans Association/Organization.
