Lydia D. Cantu

Sinton – Lydia D. Cantu passed away peacefully on January 19, 2020 with her loving family at her side. She was 79.

Lydia was born on February 15, 1940 in St. Paul, Texas to Gabino and Dominga (Escobar) DeLeon. She was a lifelong resident of St.Paul/Sinton. Lydia retired from San Patricio County where she worked in the Tax Assessor Collector office almost 40 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding in death are her parents: Gabino and Dominga DeLeon; and sisters: Feliz Lopez and Olivia Galvan.

Survivors include her husband: Jerry Cantu; a daughter: Cassie Cavazos (Dion), all of Sinton, Texas; a son: Jerry O. Cantu of Corpus Christi, Texas; 3 grandchildren: E.J., Mya and Micah Cavazos; brothers: Bernardo DeLeon (Bonnie) and Rick DeLeon (Nora); and a sister: Dominga Martinez (Andy), all of Sinton, Texas.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 12:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A Holy Rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 25, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Sinton with Father Glen Mullan as celebrant. Burial will follow in Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton.
