Taft – Mabel Jalomo Garcia passed away March 24, 2017. She was 73.

Mabel was born in Taft, Texas on September 22, 1943 to Julio, Sr. and Macrina (Suarez) Jalomo. She was retired and a lifetime resident of Taft, Texas where she worked at her parent’s store, Jalomo Groceries, for many years. She eventually managed the store herself. Mabel was also a hair dresser for more than 20 years.

She is preceded in death by her daughter: Sandra Ann Garcia; parents: Julio, Sr. and Macrina Jalomo; and brother: Julio Jalomo, Jr.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years: Miguel D. Garcia of Taft, Texas; daughter: Sandra Meza (Roland) of Taft, Texas; grandchildren: Roland D. Meza (Christina) and Kevin Meza (Amanda), both of Taft, Texas; great-grandchildren: Matthew Meza, Aizlynn Meza, Mia Meza, Kyleigh Meza, Brooklynn Meza and Brayden Trey Meza; brother: Valentin Jalomo (Carmen) of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law: Mary Ester Martinez; and the niece she helped raise: Grace Jalomo.

Visitation will begin Tuesday, March 28, 2017, 4:00 PM, at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A rosary will be held the same evening, 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 29, 2017, 10:00 AM, at Immaculate Conception Church, Taft. Burial will be private.
