Maria M. Nanez

Taft – Maria M. Nanez, 91, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family at her side on April 1, 2019. She was born in Karnes City, Texas on January 28, 1928 to Agustina (Montes) and Secundino Martinez. Maria worked in the fields for many years. She was employed with and retired from Gulf King Shrimp Co. in Aransas Pass. She enjoyed planting water grass, cutting trees and attending church. Preceding in death is her husband: Santos Nanez; parents: Secundino and Agustina (Montes) Martinez; son: Santos Nanez, Jr.; daughters: Nicholasa Nanez; Angelita Hernandez and Norma Nanez.

Survivors include sons: Benito Nanez (Guadalupe) of Dallas, Texas and  Israel Nanez (Margarita) of Portland, Texas; daughters: Frances Castro (Ricardo) of Dallas, Texas; Thelma Montana of Taft, Texas and Mary Encinia (Guadalupe) of Portland, Texas; 38 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin Thursday, April 4, 2019, 3:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton. A rosary will be held the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 5, 2019, 1:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Church, Taft with Father John McKenzie as celebrant. Burial will follow in Lamas Memorial Park Cemetery, Taft.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Nanez; Lupe Encinia, Ubaldo Gonzalez; Roger Ibarra; Ruben Hernandez; Ronald Leyva; Eddie Nanez; Rummy Gonzalez and Richard Nanez.
