Mary Jeannine Kirkpatrick Thompson

Mary Jeannine Kirkpatrick Thompson left this world to be with her Savior on August 9, 2018.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years: Albert Newton “Tommy” Thompson; three daughters: Elizabeth Sullivan of Georgetown; Sharon Stogner and husband Kyle Stogner of Texas City and Kathryn McKee and husband Dale McKee of Carrollton, Texas. Jeannine has 10 grandchildren: Ross, Sarah and Josh Sullivan; Brian Doria; Andrea Fox; Heather; Amanda; Danielle and Jenna Doria and Alex McKee. She also has 12 great-grandchildren.

Their journey of 60 years has taken lots of twists and turns. They have lived in Corpus Christi, Aransas Pass, Odem, and lately, Georgetown, Texas, with a side trip for a year to Billings, Montana and a ten year mission trip in Arkansas as the Mission Service Corp Coordinators for the state. Jeannine touched many lives in her almost 80 years and she could talk to anyone. As kids, we remember being embarrassed that she would talk to anyone, even in the grocery store about Jesus. And in true southern style, she would tell us she would be right there, which sometimes meant longer than just a minute or two, or forty. But she taught us well and today her legacy is that her children are all involved Christians in their respective places of service.

While we will miss her here on earth, we rejoice in the fact that she is with her Lord, healed perfectly and forever young. There are a few gains to going to heaven for Jeannine. She can eat anything she wants, talk to the other saints there as long as she wants, walk and run with no worries and best of all, she can finally carry a tune. Those who sang in the choir beside her can rejoice in that!

She waits for those of us who know her Lord as our Lord, and will welcome us in with that big smile, ready to laugh with us once more. Rejoice at the banquet table, served by the angels there! We love you! Our hearts are sad and happy at the same time and we know this: We will see you again…

Visitation will begin Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton. A chapel service will follow, 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Odem.
