Maximo T. Cuellar, Sr.

Maximo T. Cuellar, Sr. of Edroy, Texas passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.  After months of failing health, he passed away at his home in Edroy surrounded by his wife, children, family and friends.  He was 85 years old.

Maximo was born on May 12, 1934 in Edroy, Texas to Antonio and Maria de Jesus (Trigo) Cuellar. 

Maximo was an incredibly hard-working man. As a young boy, he started working in his family’s grocery store while attending Edroy Ward.  On November 8, 1952, he married his first love, Hortencia Morin in Tahoka, Texas.  They were inseparable for the next 67 years and had ten beautiful children.  Maximo started driving semi-trucks at an early age and made it his career until he retired in the late 90’s; however, continued to work hard and serve his community in Edroy, Texas. He read meters, cut grass and helped any neighbor with any issue. He was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to all, and a man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them. He was also a loving grandfather and “great-grand” father to many.  Maximo was a strong, proud and humble man. He is loved and will be missed by many!

Preceding in death are his parents: Antonio S. Cuellar and Maria de Jesus Trigo Cuellar.

Visitation will begin Friday, November 8, 2019, 2:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A rosary will be held the same evening, 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 9, 2019, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Edroy. Burial will follow in Edroy Cemetery, Edroy.

Pallbearers will be Joey Cuellar; Rey Lopez, Jr.; Art Cuellar, Jr.; Jeff Lopez; Gus Cuellar, Jr.; and Noe Ayala.
