Melina Keel passed away peacefully on March 22, 2018 with her loving family by her side at her home in Aransas Pass, Texas. She was 64.
Melina was born on December 30, 1953 in Singapore. She left home in 1976 and traveled to numerous locals, such as Egypt, South Korea, Chile, Japan and countless other countries for work. In 1988, Melina settled in Houston, Texas with her husband and young children. Melina had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge which was apparent through her variety of careers as a typist, bean sprout farmer, secretary, travel agent and restaurant manager. However, she found her true passion in caring for others through her medical career as a nurse and later nurse practitioner in the emergency department. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her vibrant personality, love and devotion to others will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Melina is preceeded in death by her parents: Seah Ah Piew and Tang Thia May.
Survivors include her husband: Jim Keel of Aransas Pass, Texas; her daughter: Nicole and her husband Cody Adamek of Houston, Texas; her son: Ryan Keel and his wife Cassie of Katy, Texas; her grandchildren: Makenna and Callie Adamek; Collins and Beckett Keel; siblings: Susie, Ricky, Helen, Jimmy, Jennifer and Jeffrey Seah, all of Singapore; and numerous extended family and friends.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the DM Dettling Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 28, 2018, 10:30 AM at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Community Church in Houston, Texas with Father Paul Chovanec as celebrant. Melina will be laid to rest Thursday, March 29, 2018, 10:00 AM in Prairie View Cemetery, Aransas Pass, Texas. Father James Vasquez will render the committal service.
