Sinton- Richard Oliver “Dickie” Gingrich, Sr., 76, died peacefully in his home on February 26, 2018. He was born January 4, 1942 to O. A. “Sonny” and Mildred (Howard) Gingrich. He was raised in Sinton, Texas and attended Sinton schools. On June 4, 1966, Dickie married the love of his life, Charlotte Burch of Taft, Texas. They were married over 50 years. The two of them made their home in Sinton and raised three children: Richard, Mark an Stephanie Gingrich.
Dickie’s passion was being a true cowboy. He had fond memories of working for the Griffith and Edwards ranches. He shared his stories with anyone and all who crossed his path. He never knew a stranger. Whether he was mowing grass, fixing flats or performing construction work, he was always a cowboy first. He was a lover of animals, especially his horses Stranger, Boots, Jingle Star and dogs, Nickels, Dimes, Little Bit, Max and Ralphie. He loved the cowboy-way and enjoyed watching old westerns and rodeos. Dickie loved going to Garner State Park.
Dickie will be missed. He was one of a kind.
Preceding Dickie in death are his wife: Charlotte; his parents: Sonny and Mildred; and his in-laws: Clarence and Pauline Burch.
Survivors include his sons: Richard Gingrich (Rosie), Jr. and Mark Gingrich, all of Sinton, Texas; a daughter: Stephanie Gingrich of Dallas, Texas; 2 grand-daughters: Shelby Gingrich of Corpus Christi, Texas and Olivia Gingrich of Sinton, Texas; brother: Larry Gingrich (Carole) of Scottsdale, AZ; brothers-in-law: James Burch (Jan) of Portland, Texas and Melvin Burch (Carolyn) of Petronila, Texas; sisters-in-law: Beverly Whitmire of Houston, Texas, Jerry Castro (Romeo) of Aransas Pass, Texas and Irene Burch of Taft, Texas; 2 aunts: Gloria Muehlbrad of Seguin, Texas and Helen Mauer of Robstown, Texas; many cousins, nieces, nephews and rodeo friends who will miss him greatly.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Resthaven Funeral Home, Sinton. The family will receive guests from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Friday, March 2, 2018, 10:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Sinton. Burial will follow in Sinton Cemetery.
