Sinton – Stacy Yvette Selby passed away October 11, 2019. She was 47.
Stacy was born on June 30, 1972 in Taft, Texas to Howard and Wanda (Jones) Medlock.
She was a former resident of Sinton, Texas, attended Sinton and Taft schools and was currently living in Corpus Christi.
Stacy made her mark as a Sinton Pirate athlete. In 1990, she became the State High School shot put champion. Stacy held Texas A&M- Kingsville’s shot put record from 1997 to 2004. In 1997, Stacy was named Junior Miss Sinton.
Stacy made Coaching and Teaching her career. She was a beloved Special Education Teacher and Department Chair at Carroll High School in Corpus Christi. She was the Tigers’ head volleyball coach for three seasons. Coach Selby led the team to a 16-9 record and 8-3 record in District 35A during the 2019 season. She also coached soccer and track for the Tigers. Stacy had previously coached volleyball, basketball and track in Sinton; coached volleyball, basketball and track in Taft; coached volleyball and track in Ingleside and West Oso. She led the Coastal Volleyball Club, CC Wave Volleyball Club and CC Storm Volleyball club. Coach Selby could always be heard yelling or cheering from the sidelines or the stands.
Stacy was a doting Mother who was proud of her children and family. Family and God meant everything to her. She had a smile that lit up a room when she walked in and a spirit of giving… whether it was sending support to a child in another country, uplifting her children and family, or being a Coach, role model and Educator to the students she loved.
Preceding in death are her mother, Wanda Busby; her father, Howard Medlock; her twin brother: Tracy Medlock; brothers: Michael Busby and Howard Medlock, Jr.; and sister: Marilyn Garrett.
Survivors include a daughter: Brittany Contessa Selby; a son: Trent Scott Selby, both of San Marcos, Texas; brothers: Frankie Busby (Gloria) of Sinton, Texas; Willie Charles Medlock (Leah) of Wimberley, Texas; sisters: Diana Burk (Steve) of Sinton, Texas; Vanessa Light (Thomas) of Brookshire, Texas; and countless extended family members, friends, students and colleagues.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 18, 2019, 2:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 19, 2019, 11:00 AM at the Church of Hope, 13024 Leopard St. in Calallen, Texas with Pastor Rod Young officiating. Interment will follow the same afternoon, 2:00 PM in Heavens Acres Cemetery, Sinton.
