Sinton – Alberto G. Castillo passed away January 5, 2025. He was 78.

Alberto was born in Sinton, Texas on July 3, 1946 to Marcelina (Gomez) and David Castillo. He was a resident of Odem for a very short period, having lived in Sinton for most of his life. He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy and US Air Force, having fought in the Vietnam War. Alberto was a lifelong musician; he was inducted to the Tejano Roots Hall of Fame. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceding in death are his parents: David and Marcelina Castillo; brother: Sonny Castillo; sister: Mary Alice Gonzales and Rosie Burns.

Survivors include his wife: Maria Castillo from Odem, Texas; sons: Richard Martinez (Angelina) and Albert “Pops” Castillo (Veronica) both from Sinton, Texas; daughters: Iris Joseph (Jamar) from Houston, Texas, Amy Cervantez (Abel) from Sinton, Texas, Leticia Anaya (Ricardo) from Austin, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers: Charlie Castillo (Guadalupe), Roberto Castillo (Greta) and Raymond Castillo all from Aransas Pass, Texas and Ray Castillo from Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters: Ida Naranjo (Jimmy),  Marcelina Cano both from Sinton, Texas,  Betty Jean Castillo from Aransas Pass, Texas and Frances Pina (Ted) from Corpus Christi, Texas; former spouse: Yolanda Martinez Castillo. 

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025, 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. Visitation will continue Sunday, January 12, 2025, 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, January 13, 2025, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Sinton. Burial will follow in Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 1:00 PM.
