Alfredo "Fred" Garza Obituary

Sinton - Alfredo M. “Fred” Garza passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026 at his home in Sinton, Texas surrounded by the love of his family. He was 83.

Fred was born on July 22, 1942 in Beeville, Texas to Victoria (Marin) and Felipe Garza. He spent much of his life in Angleton and Three Rivers before settling in Sinton. Wherever he lived, Fred built lasting friendships and was known for his warm heart, generous spirit and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Fred proudly served his country in the United States Army and later dedicated nearly 20 years of service as a chemical plant operator for Amoco Chemical Corporation. He also served as Vice Commander of the American Legion in Angleton, where he remained committed to supporting fellow veterans and his community.

Above all, Fred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He found his greatest joy spending time with family, sharing stories, cooking meals and barbequing for gatherings filled with laughter and love. He never met a stranger and was the kind of man who would gladly give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His kindness, humor and strong presence will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Preceding in death are his parents, Felipe and Victoria Garza; his brothers, Roberto and Billy Garza; and his sister, Carmen Lopez.

Fred leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Blanca Garza from Sinton, Texas; sons, Alfredo “Freddie” Garza Jr. (Jada) from Harker Heights, Texas; and Jamie Garza from Clute, Texas; daughter, Shannon Garza (Jennifer Stell) from Lake Jackson, Texas; grandchildren, Jordan Garza, Victoria Rodriguez, Vivian Rodriguez and Rokie Rodriguez; great-grandchild, Jakai Gant; brother, Henry Garza (Sylvia) from Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Martha Salinas from Beeville, Texas, Luiza Garza from Three Rivers, Texas; Olivia Salazar from San Antonio, Texas; and many extended family members and lifelong friends.

A Graveside Service honoring Fred’s life and military service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, 2:00 PM at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
