Angelita P. Cortez

Angelita P. Cortez was born in Donna, Texas on May 30, 1940. She passed away on October 20, 2023 at home surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Angelita worked for the Gregory-Portland Independent School District for 35 years. She helped her husband with establishing M. Cortez Contract Gauging & Consulting. She also co-owned SRM Consulting, Inc and SRM Equipment, LC. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a faithful Christian and children’s bible teacher.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Macario (Mac) Cortez; her parents: Bernadino Pena and Viviana Chavez; her sisters: Virginia Rodriguez, Martina Garcia, Guadalupe Martinez, and Judy Ramirez; her great-grand daughter: Faith Ariana Cortez.

She is survived by her children:

Son: Jim Cortez

Grandchildren: John David (Michelle) Cortez and Jana (Andrew) Lopez

Great grandchildren: Sierra Moreno, John David Cortez Jr., and Lorelai Lopez.

Son: Raymond (Anita) Cortez

Grandchildren: Christy (Enrique) Garza, Kim (Ernie) Martinez, Raymond (Patricia) Cortez Jr., Kaely Cortez

Great grandchildren: Nyla & Ariah Garza; Ernie III, Elena, & Raymond Martinez; Scarlett, Violet, and Emilia Cortez.

Son: Samuel (Rebecca) Cortez

Daughter:  Laura (Sergio) Perales

Grandchildren: Jacob & Jonah Perales

PallBearers: John David Cortez, Raymond Cortez, Jr., Jacob Perales, Jonah Perales, Ernie Martinez, Jr., Arnold Coronado, and Gabriel Martinez.

Visitation will begin Thursday, October 26, 2023, 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Resthaven Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. The Funeral Service will be celebrated on the same day, Thursday, October 26, 2023 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow at Palms Memory Garden, Portland, Texas.
