Taft – Angelita Guzman Hernandez passed away on June 6, 2024. She was 83.

Angelita was born August 2, 1940 in Taft, Texas to Dolores (Mendez) and Thomas Guzman. She was a lifelong resident of Taft. Angelita lived for her children, she was a strong and independent woman. She worked her entire life to provide for her family, taking pride in her profession. Angelita was her family’s superwoman, historian, she loved working outdoors and sharing stories with her children. She was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding in death by her former spouse: Jesus G. Hernandez; daughter: Sophia Ann Hernandez; great-granddaughter: Sofia Juanita Alvarado Martinez; parents: Thomas and Dolores Guzman; brother: Martin Guzman;

Survivors include her sons: Michael Anthony Hernandez and Jesse Hernandez (Alicia) both from Taft, Texas, David Dean Hernandez (Susan) from Corpus Christi, Texas and Thomas Christopher Hernandez (Gloria) from Sinton, Texas; daughter: Jessica Laura Hernandez (Eddie); 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild; sisters: Dolores Blanco (Augustine) from Odem, Texas, Janie Jaime from San Antonio, Texas and Diana Villarreal from Aransas Pass, Texas.

Visitation will begin Friday, June 14, 2024, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 15, 2024, 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church in Taft, Texas. Burial will follow in Lamas Memorial Cemetery.
