Anthony "Tony" Van Meter Obituary
Ingleside – Anthony “Tony” Van Meter passed away on May 25, 2026, at the age of 55.
Tony was the kind of man who made life feel simple, steady, and meaningful. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family, and he treasured every moment. Whether he was cheering on his favorite football team, playing Madden, tossing a football with his son, or relaxing beside his dog Scooter, those were the moments that meant the most to him.
He loved deeply, laughed often, and had a gift for making the people around him feel cared for and important. More than anything, Tony was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a man whose love for his family showed in everything he did.
A lifelong Steelers fan and loyal supporter of the Indiana Hoosiers, Tony especially loved college basketball season. Game days were something he truly looked forward to, but nothing brought him more pride than being a husband and father.
Tony served Aransas County with dedication for more than a decade as a Corrections Officer at the Aransas County Jail, where he earned the respect of his peers as a Sergeant. He later continued his service to the community as the Aransas County Environmental Health Director.
He will be remembered for his caring heart, his love of laughter, and the way he made those around him feel valued. The memories he created with family and friends will be cherished forever.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patricia Van Meter; sisters, Vickie Tackett and Dana Harp; and brother, Ronnie Van Meter.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 19 years, Karen Van Meter of Ingleside, Texas; sons, Lance Van Meter of Ingleside, Texas, and Griffen Blocker of Huntington, Indiana; brothers, Robert Van Meter (Debbie) of Ohio, Michael Van Meter of Kansas, and Daniel Van Meter of Montana; along with many extended family members who loved him dearly.
