Taft – Antonia Martinez Ortiz passed away peacefully January 7, 2025 with her loving family at her side. She was 84.

Antonia was born February 14, 1940 in Edinburg, Texas to Isabel (Gamez) and Soilo Martinez. She married Gilberto Ortiz, Sr. and lived most of her life in Taft. Antonia was a homemaker. She was a dedicated wife and mother, who loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren beyond measure. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Preceding in death are her husband Gilberto Ortiz, Sr.; daughters: Julia Arias, Erma Ortiz and Erminia Ortiz; grandson: Arturo “Tudy” Naranjo, Jr.; granddaughter: Lupita Arias; parents: Soilo and Isabel Martinez; brothers: Soilo Martinez, Jr., Juan Martinez, Ruben Martinez, Domingo Martinez, Jesus Martinez and Alejandro Martinez; sister: Paula Tovar.

Survivors include her sons: Gilberto Ortiz, Jr. (Queta) from Corpus Christi, Texas; Raymond Ortiz from Taft, Texas; daughters: Maria Lemos (Alejandro) from Three Rivers, Texas; Norma Naranjo (Arturo) and Yolanda Castillo (Julio), all from Taft, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; sisters: Isabel Santellana (Santiago), Angelita Jasso (Calixtro), Lupe Martinez, all from Odem, Texas; Dolores Rocha (Richard) from Austin, Texas; and numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will begin Friday, January 10, 2025 at 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton, Texas. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 11, 2025, 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church in Taft with Father Peter officiating. Burial will follow in Lamas Memorial Park, Taft.
