Taft – Arturo O. Naranjo, Jr. passed away October 4, 2021. He was 32.
Arturo was born on October 10, 1988 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Norma (Ortiz) and Arturo A. Naranjo. He was a lifelong of Taft. Arturo was a graduate of Taft High School where he excelled as a second baseman for the Taft Greyhound’s baseball team. He was honored to have been selected to participate in the Pig Skin Tournament in Hawaii and was a member of the South Texas Dawgs. Arturo was also voted Shrine CBCA All Star. He dedicated his life to excellence. Arturo’s love for sports fueled his ability to coach Little League football, basketball, soccer and T-ball. He was committed to his country and the community of Taft where he was a veteran of the US Army and member of the Taft Volunteer Fire Department. Arturo was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Survivors include his wife: Lucy Naranjo; sons: Arturo “Tres” Naranjo, III and Matthew Naranjo; daughters: Sofia Naranjo and Caroleena “Rolee” Naranjo; parents: Arturo and Norma Naranjo; brother: Pedro “PJ” Naranjo, all from Taft, Texas; sister: Gracie Naranjo (Jason Elizardo) from Ingleside, Texas; maternal grandmother: Antonia Ortiz from Taft, Texas; in-laws: Tomas and Socorro Alvarado from Corpus Christi, Texas; brother-in-law: Jorge Alvarado (Natashia) from Florida; nieces: Jaselin Elizardo and Annaleah Elizardo, both from Ingleside, Texas; Breanna Alvarado from Florida; and numerous extended family members.
Visitation will begin Monday, October 11, 2021. 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. The Recitation of the Rosary will be the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 12, 2021, 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Taft. Burial will follow in Lamas Memorial Park Cemetery, Taft.
